Leslie picked me up this morning and we met Marion, Smooth, Luz, and Rachel at the Jordan River Parkway Trail in Lehi.  Snow was coming down pretty hard.

I ran 7 slow miles with Marion and Leslie until the first sign of pain in the knee. At that point I stopped and walked the remaining 2 miles back to the car.  Did some backwards running, scissors steps, skipping, etc. as cross training.

We had a party in Les' car afterwards getting warm and eating.  Thanks to everyone for bringing treats and cheerful moods.

PM - after Leslie dropped me off I went to the gym and did 1 3/4 hours weight lifting - getting in the entire body.  Now I'm ready for some good protein and listening to conference in Italian.

Glad you came. I am pooped.

From luzylew on Sat, Apr 04, 2009 at 15:22:15 from 69.169.165.206

It was so nice to finally meet you. I'm glad you are able to get out and run (and stuff) without pain. It takes so long to heal broken stuff. I promise to contribute to the food supply next time. I hope we get a perfect morning one of these times in exchange for today's weather! Say hi to the pup for me. Have a great Saturday.

From RAD on Sat, Apr 04, 2009 at 15:56:50 from 67.166.99.8

maruine, it was so fun to meet you this morning. I sure hope that your IT gets feeling better - I sure wish I didn't have one, I don't care what it does for me - I just hate what it does TO me!! Glad you enjoyed the party afterward, I REALLY wish I could've stayed. Felt kind of poopy leaving without the after party :( Its my favorite part. Keep up the 'recovery' work for the IT and we'll see you again soon :)

From Smooth on Sat, Apr 04, 2009 at 16:04:32 from 71.36.85.29

Maurine, you were the bravest little soldier there. Tough is not adequate to describe you! Thank you for coming to run with us. You are so dang funny and cheerful!!! I hope that IT behaves and you will be 100% comes Ogden. We will have a great Slam year!!!

From Maurine/Tarzan on Sat, Apr 04, 2009 at 16:14:36 from 97.117.61.168

Les - I hope you get over feeling so tired soon. It was a bit disconcerting to see you struggling so much today.

Luz - good meeting you too. Hopefully we can get some more runs together. Twi says hi. She is excited because I can be conned into playing catch with her for a while.

Rachel - good to see you today. Thanks for all the treats. We really enjoyed them. Hope to see you again soon!

Smooth - I want to be a Boston runner too! I don't know about tough - maybe crazy.

I was very please with the IT band. I think if I stay on flats and do more cross training for the next few weeks that I will be ok.

you did weights too?!? wow, I'm impressed. I got home ate 2 muffins and sat on the couch under a blanket :)

From Maurine/Tarzan on Sat, Apr 04, 2009 at 16:29:16 from 97.117.61.168

Rachel - you must remember that I was in shape enough to (supposedly) run 50 miles last weekend and only did 9 today. I have lots of extra energy left over.

From RAD on Sat, Apr 04, 2009 at 16:38:20 from 67.166.99.8

you must!!! I'm amazed! (STINKY ITBs!!)

From Maurine/Tarzan on Sat, Apr 04, 2009 at 16:48:45 from 97.117.61.168

All psycho runners - next Saturday - Porter Rockwell Trail and Canal Trails. You can do 11-12 miles in one trip and then do more mileage on top of that. Let me know if you are coming and I will write up directions.

From Marion on Sat, Apr 04, 2009 at 17:43:42 from 71.213.124.146

You are SO cool, Maurine! You run 27 killer miles last sat and then kill 9 with out a blink! I sure hope that knee is OK.

Next Sat, can you suggest an 11 miler for me and Metcalf Running (and YOU of course and any other crazy RHPC how wants to come ;). We wanted to meet in SLC for a run but I don't know where to go :)

From tarzan on Sat, Apr 04, 2009 at 18:03:06 from 97.117.61.168

Si - parlo italiano. Ho studiato la linga per quattro anni a l'universita e anche ho lavorato per 5 anni a un branco in Chicago di un banco italiano.

Marion - I keep suggesting a run in my area for next Saturday (see my entry right before yours) - but it must not be good enough. Going off to pout now.

From Marion on Sat, Apr 04, 2009 at 18:36:57 from 71.213.124.146

Sorry, my brain is fried! That sounds GREAT!!!! :) I'm sorry :(

From sue on Sat, Apr 04, 2009 at 23:39:22 from 216.194.116.178

Wow I was just impressed with Twilight in Italian but to hear about your die hard running (50k wow impressive!) and weight lifting on top of that is inspiring. Hope the IT band gets better soon.

From RAD on Sun, Apr 05, 2009 at 00:33:48 from 67.166.99.8

I'll take a good fun run next week!! Its better than running alone, AND I don't have to work so I can stay for the fun party - woohoo! What time are you thinking?

From Marion the Moron on Sun, Apr 05, 2009 at 10:21:13 from 71.213.124.18

Marion the moron will be there next Sat with whipping cream and hot chocolate :D Is 7am ok?

From RAD on Sun, Apr 05, 2009 at 15:47:51 from 67.166.99.8

7 sounds good for me!! Of course 10 sounds better (I like to sleep), but then I won't get ANYTHING done - so, 7 it is :) I will need directions as to where we are starting, I've done the rockwell trail before- I just don't know where you start....

Marion isn't a moron, it was the 'delusional' state after a long run that we all get into!!

From Kelli on Sun, Apr 05, 2009 at 16:20:19 from 71.219.95.20

Wow, I can barely follow it in English sometimes!

Sorry you encountered some pain! But good for you for finding some alternate activities to fit in instead. Sorry I missed it.

From tarzan on Sun, Apr 05, 2009 at 18:51:26 from 97.117.61.168

I find I can sleep as easily to conference in Italian as I do in English - it actually makes me focus more on listening to the meaning of the message.

See my Sunday blog for directions on the run for Saturday morning.
