Headed out for a 3 mile run with the dog this morning.  About 3/4 of a mile from home I started getting a shooting pain below my left kneecap (the pain I had feared on the trail run last Saturday but never got). Turned around and started walking home.  The pain quit after about 5 minutes of walking, but I felt it on every stair as I walked into my house.

PM - went to gym and did a light leg workout with weights - light weights, lot of reps.

Twilight the dog is now ready for trail running with her new haircut:

Oh no, Maurine! Hope the pain goes away! Was just reading from "Born to Run" and liked this quote. Reminds me of you for obvious reasons:

p. 211 "Athletes are Tarzans. Tarzan swims and wrestles and jumps and swings on vines. He's strong and explosive. You never know what Tarzan will do next, which is why he never gets hurt."

Keep the faith. Ice and rest up. You are a trooper and one of my idols! Run on runner girl!

Bwahahahaha! I finished reading that book on Monday and that was one of the quotes I highlighted too (for obvious reasons).

However, it also pointed out the need to do more than just run - so I will be lifting weights tonight.

Smart move to walk back and take it easy. It'll pass, kind of like the flu.

Way to listen to your body! It will save you ample recovery time in the long run! I hope that you are feeling better soon, and enjoy that x-training.

Hopefully the knee pain is just one of those recovery twitches. Do some "Tarzan" stuff and listen to your body. I've never run the DNews 10K either. I figure it's easier than the DNews Marathon, right? I've done the DNews Mary last two years. May be I'll sign up for the 10K this year.

Probably a good call! Ice it up and x-train. You will be running strong in no time!

Sorry about the pain. Pain pain go away. . . Come again when I'm 98!

Your dog looks so sweet.

That dog is quite obviously the master of the house!

From Maurine/Tarzan on Thu, Jul 02, 2009 at 10:43:12 from 63.255.172.2

The dog does not run the house. I am not a crazy runner. I can handle life without training. (All very true statements).

I wuv you wittle woo-woo. I have a funny part of me that loves small dogs and I think that when the kids are grown and our big dogs have gone to dog heaven, I may have to have one. She is too cute, with her new do.
