Short-Term Running Goals:

After 1/9/2010 - I am taking a year off from marathon length distances and focusing on building up my base speed on half marathons and shorter distances.

2010 Speed Goals:

  • Build up my base speed on training runs to 10 MM miles or better
  • Half Marathon - break 2:05 (9.5 MM avg)
  • 10K Goal 1 - break 1:00 (9.67 MM avg)
  • 10K Goal 2 - break 55 minutes (8.87 MM avg)
  • 5K Goal 1 - break 26.35 minutes
  • 5K Goal 2 - break 25 minutes

Long-Term Running Goals:

Long Term Goals:

  • Complete a 100 Mile race
  • Complete a 100 K race
  • Break 12 hours in a 50 mile race
  • Run all portions of the Wasatch 100 course
  • Break 5 hours in a marathon
  • Break 4.5 hours in a marathon
  • Qualify for and run Boston

Five miles around Wheeler Farm after work in 57:20.  I wore my FiveFingers.  If anyone has done those trails, they are not really packed dirt, but are gravel and twigs and such. After about 1.5 miles my feet kind of went numb so the rocks and gravel didn't hurt as much.  Around 4.5 miles the numbness went away and I felt every dang rock.

20 minutes of Yoga for Runners.

After dinner did a Circuit workout and a Core workout from the latest issue of Oxygen Magazine.

Holy cow! I don't think I'd ever even venture to put a pair on - let alone RUN in them AND on trails! You're feet are tough!! Of course that doesn't surprise me..YOU are one tough cookie!!

Be careful with those gravely, rocky, twigly trail. We don't want you to trip or twist anything or get PF. Stay with dirt. Ice and massage the sore feet good tonight...while watching Biggest Looser. Is that show still on?

Nice job getting in the miles Maurine. Okay ... I was thinking about doing some of my runs around Wheeler Farm ... thought the trail like surface would be better on my injury ... but now I'm second guessing that thought.

What do you think?

Teena,

Wheeler Farm would be a great way to run trails and avoid injury. It is only running in FiveFinger which have like 1/8 of an inch of padding on the bottom that it is a problem. I love running there. The main trails are nice and smooth.
