Personal:

I am 26 years old. I am the Production Coordinator for all visual communications for Kiawah Island Real Estate. I've been a runner since high school, and I have a competitive nature that should explain my high mileage. I challenge myself to accomplish what I never imagined I could do, and I try to encourage myself and others to push their limits. I'm usually late to parties and social gatherings, since I have to get the run in first...(but luckily, I have great friends who acknowledge my routine). I suffered a bad case of plantar fasciitis March of 2010, and I picked up cycling/spinning while I recovered. Surprisingly, I totally loved it. I only ran on a whim or on weekends, or on vacation days when my gym was closed. This fall, I finally got back into the swing of things and started racing again. I'll try to update my races and runs more frequently. I'd like to be where I was 2 years ago....12 miles a day...I mean...what?!?! =)

Not a bad run at all. I was surprised to find that I maintained my fitness level after a 2 week break. Not really a total break I guess, since I've been biking about 24 miles a day! Anyway, good run on Easter Sunday. I'm filling in this entry on Tuesday April 6, and my calves are very very sore! So I'm going to continue biking and will incorporate short runs in between until I'm back to normal. Also, I think my shoes might be part of the problem. I think they're already worn down on the inside.

Hey Mary. How's it going? Are you injured or just not blogging?

Hey Burt! Well, I was injured (plantar fasciitis) and I think I've recovered at this point. I actually ran 6 miles in just about 45 minutes last Wednesday, but I've almost entirely switched to biking. I was totally shocked to find I had no trouble breathing. I will say that my calves were on FIRE the next day though. But my arch was perfectly fine, so I just need to get back in the groove (and maybe a new pair of shoes will help motivate me as well!).

Sorry to hear about the injury. If only you could win a race where the prize is a new pair of shoes. But you'd have to have a good pair of shoes to win, so it's a vicious cycle. LOL! Anyway, glad to hear you're doing better!
