Personal:

I am 26 years old. I am the Production Coordinator for all visual communications for Kiawah Island Real Estate. I've been a runner since high school, and I have a competitive nature that should explain my high mileage. I challenge myself to accomplish what I never imagined I could do, and I try to encourage myself and others to push their limits. I'm usually late to parties and social gatherings, since I have to get the run in first...(but luckily, I have great friends who acknowledge my routine). I suffered a bad case of plantar fasciitis March of 2010, and I picked up cycling/spinning while I recovered. Surprisingly, I totally loved it. I only ran on a whim or on weekends, or on vacation days when my gym was closed. This fall, I finally got back into the swing of things and started racing again. I'll try to update my races and runs more frequently. I'd like to be where I was 2 years ago....12 miles a day...I mean...what?!?! =)

I decided to devote Valentine's Day to something I love: running. I finally ran a marathon (not an official race). It was pretty awesome. I kind of cheated though. I ran 14 then took about a 30 minute break and ran the last 12. The weather was great, upper 40s and sunny. The new normal for Charleston. It was good times, now I want to run a full race!

Nah. I just wanted to see if I could go the distance before actually registering for a race. I like to know what I'm getting myself into. Not counting the 30 minute break I took in the middle, I ran the whole 26 in about 3 hr 45 min. I am dying to know what my racing time would be since I shave off almost 30 minutes when I run a half marathon vs. when I run 13 miles leisurely (though I'm well aware a full marathon would be very different from a half).

if you're running a full marathon in training, i would imagine that the transition to a race marathon would be much less difficult for you than it is for most (who probably run less than 20 miles in training)

i understand wanting to cover the distance before entering a race, though; i ran an "easy" 50k before my first real trail 50k, just to make sure i could handle the distance (maybe i should have done that for the longer stuff...). it will be interesting to see what you can do in a race situation, given your training mileage...

Speaking of Valentine's Day, I was dragged to the movie theater to watch mushy movies over the weekend. The things we do for love. Anyway, I watched Dear John which you may know takes place right in Charleston. If you see Channing Tatum around, say hi to him for me.

Nice run! Are you planning on a full marathon this year? If so, I'm sure you'll do extremely well.
