Personal:

I am 26 years old. I am the Production Coordinator for all visual communications for Kiawah Island Real Estate. I've been a runner since high school, and I have a competitive nature that should explain my high mileage. I challenge myself to accomplish what I never imagined I could do, and I try to encourage myself and others to push their limits. I'm usually late to parties and social gatherings, since I have to get the run in first...(but luckily, I have great friends who acknowledge my routine). I suffered a bad case of plantar fasciitis March of 2010, and I picked up cycling/spinning while I recovered. Surprisingly, I totally loved it. I only ran on a whim or on weekends, or on vacation days when my gym was closed. This fall, I finally got back into the swing of things and started racing again. I'll try to update my races and runs more frequently. I'd like to be where I was 2 years ago....12 miles a day...I mean...what?!?! =)

Absolutely perfect run. Although, I have a chronic muscle pain in my lower left abs. It's been ongoing for a few months now. It's painful for the first few strides of my run, and then it kind of pops or stretches out and I'm all better. It hasn't gotten worse, but it's not going away. I religiously change my shoes every 300-400 miles, so I know it isn't a footwear problem. The obvious solution is to rest....but everyone knows I don't really do that. Anyone have a similar issue? Is this a common muscle strain? I've tried to stretch it, but the only way to stretch it is to do a crunch. It's a very curious and stubborn muscle...

How low is it? My junior year of high school I had a similar issue in my extreme upper leg/hip/lower ab area and eventually it turned into a torn sartorius muscle as near as I can tell and I was basically out for half the track season that year and was barely able to lift my knee. It's probably not the same thing, but it sounded like it could be. I was forced to rest it, but when it got well enough I went in the weight room and used one of the machines with a cuff around my ankle to exercise it by doing knee ups I guess you would say. (I had to be inventive to find an exercise that worked) Anyway, that might not be what you're experiencing...but maybe that will help.

Thanks, I appreciate your response to my post. Any advice and info is welcomed, whether good or bad. I don't know if it's the same muscle or not. If I lift my leg, there's no pain. The only time I can make it hurt (haha) is by doing a crunch or actually running. Walking doesn't trigger it. I should probably see a specialist since I could stand to take a week off and swap in cycling for running. If it was excruciating pain, I totally would. I'm a glutton for punishment.
