I'm working in Sacramento this week, so today I enjoyed a 55-degree run along the American River. I drove to Ancil Hoffman Park and ran through the nature trails (opposite side of the river where the main trail is located). This was a narrow dirt trail. I saw 40-50 deer and 20-30 turkeys. I'm not sure what you call a group of turkeys (gagel?), but the deer were a herd. There were several very large bucks with 12+ points on their antlers. I was a little afraid on a couple of close encounters. All in all it was a slow run, but it is nice to be in the warm sun again swallowing trail bugs.
