The knee was irritated at the very end.  Did not like this route.  The flattest route around.  Slightly down hill for the first half which means a slight up hill for the last two :p

I need to get a foam roller today.  ***Michelle, I forgot to get it from you at the pool on Saturday :(  I'm gonna call Dr. Brady and see if I can get one from him after work today.  If not, I will be by to see you, Michelle, if it is still oK ;)

I am home today probably until noonish. I even forgot to bring it to the pool. You can run up today. When I first needed them from Dr. Brady he was out of stock, so definitely call to see if he has them before driving in.

You're getting closer to your goal pace! Good luck with the foam roller.

You don't like a flat route??? Silly girl! Nice run today... have fun with your foam rollers. I think you should have sword fights with your boys LOL

From marion on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 15:00:21 from 71.213.115.102

Michelle! Dr. B had one :) I am SO excited :p I hope you had a fun 1/2 day at home today :) OH- best lunch ever! I can white Albacore tuna, 2 T light Mayo, ~1/2 C quartered grapes, diced onion, diced celery(left over from the pool). Mix well and pour over 2-4 C baby leafy greens. YUMMY!! ... and SO filling :) (4 points)

Carolyn- the most exciting thing about today's run, is that the pace just happened :) I did have to make myself go a bit in the last mile, but the rest was just the legs doing their thing :)

Lori- Yes, flat is not my favorite :) I really like to run up hill then downhill. Flat is SO hard to find. The canal trail that I have been running is pretty close to flat, but I am going to have to drive there, since there is some steep down hill back to my house and the ITB is not loving that :)

From Smooth on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 15:47:03 from 71.32.234.135

Is the irritation on the lateral (outside) of the knee?

That salad sounds yummy.

NICE pace and perfect mileage today!

From marion on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 15:49:14 from 71.213.115.102

Yes, smooth- It is on the outside of the knee :( The foam roller hurts like HECK! (in my upper thigh to my hip area)

From Smooth on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 15:54:13 from 71.32.234.135

Marion,

It is supposed to hurt like HECK!!! The first time I did it, I thought I would pass out. :O

Pause at the point where it hurts and continue to roll. Do it 3 times a day. It gets easier each time. Oh, remember to breath when you're rolling. It's like child birth! :)

From RAD on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 16:39:09 from 76.27.12.70

I'm so glad you're liking the foam roller :) It's beautiful isn't it? I think you knew those triggers would be closer to the hip...you smarty pants!!! You're doing GREAT and everything you should be. Keep it up and you'll be rid of that stupid ITBS before you know it!!! Glad you got some miles in before the pain today.

From Kelli on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 17:56:54 from 71.219.100.174

YOU TAKE CARE OF THAT KNEE!!! Foam roll away little lady!

From marion on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 18:11:49 from 71.213.115.102

But the foam roller HURTS!!! :(:::::::::

3 times a day????

How many reps and sets of the clam?

From Smooth on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 18:19:32 from 71.32.234.135

Don't do the clam while your thighs/hips are sore. Wait till the knots on the lateral thigh muscles get nice and loose first. I'd start out doing 5 reps, 2 sets twice a week. Add another set the following week.

From marion on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 18:23:47 from 71.213.115.102

Thanks Smooth-a-licious! It really hurt the sore side to do the clams after the rolling ;)

From auntieem on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 19:48:13 from 67.182.145.8

I know what you mean about the foam roller. I've had IT soreness lately and have been using it, and it makes me yelp a bit. My leg is bruised, partly from the roller and partly from my chiropractor who basically does the same thing. I do not like this IT stuff. Good luck!

From Maurine/Tarzan on Tue, Aug 04, 2009 at 09:49:06 from 63.255.172.2

Keep working with the foam roller. If its a hurting - its a working.
