100 mile in 2013

Master's Woman's Bikini contest... yes... I may just do this in the coming year if I can manage to give up beer long enough to cut!

Help to inspire others to get fit and be consistent in their training.....Continue to love running and stay injury free while I rack up the miles....

Personal:

I have been married for almost 20 years.... Dave is the only man that I think that was placed specifically on this earth to tolerate my crazy ways.

I have 2 boys - ages 9 yrs. and 18 yrs. old (senior in high schoold and known on this blog as "Ironman"- they are fabulous kids - I am very blessed!!!

I am an RN and have been for around 12 years.

I lift weights regularly and work abs 2-3 days a week.  I enjoy the beach, like to sing, and love to run!!!

Quit smoking about 4 years ago and couldn't run 1/4 way around a track when I began... started with elliptical and then got into running more seriously.  Cranked up the mileage and intensity when I began training for my first 1/2 marathon.  The rest is history.... or history in the making!?

Mentally not into running today.  Very tired to begin with.  This run had  basically turned into a fartlek....9:02 average pace.  I was spent after the first 5 miles... lots of stops the last 4.  Bonk :(

Mixture of interval and fartlek.... overall average pace 8:27.   Working on speed for the next 3-4  weeks and will keep mileage below 40 miles per week then will start increasing mileage at that point.  That is the plan.  I am trying something different again.  Rather than work on speed with high mileage, I've decided to address it as a separate issue first.... let's see what happens!!!

Resting today.  My family left today.  Although I love them, I feel relieved.  They are very challenging to deal with.  In many ways, running a marathon is so much easier....

The first 1.55 miles in 12:11 / 7:53 average pace.... then ran the next 5 miles in 43:48 / 8:45 average pace. I am beat! Especially since I ran 8.5 miles yesterday. Ran on tired legs for the last 3 miles and could feel it in my lungs when I got home. Dave (my husband) wants us to go race a mile in the morning to see how fast we are... not very appealing to me right now! Getting to the point where I am thinking about purchasing some new running shoes.  I am definitely going to get another pair of Asics and I am also going to purchase a pair of Vibram five fingers.  Tried them on the other day and found them just too darn interesting!!  I gotta at least try one pair.... really liked how natural my stride felt when I tried running in them.  I think they will be great to use for intervals and speed work...
