Personal:

I have been married for almost 20 years.... Dave is the only man that I think that was placed specifically on this earth to tolerate my crazy ways.

I have 2 boys - ages 9 yrs. and 18 yrs. old (senior in high schoold and known on this blog as "Ironman"- they are fabulous kids - I am very blessed!!!

I am an RN and have been for around 12 years.

I lift weights regularly and work abs 2-3 days a week.  I enjoy the beach, like to sing, and love to run!!!

Quit smoking about 4 years ago and couldn't run 1/4 way around a track when I began... started with elliptical and then got into running more seriously.  Cranked up the mileage and intensity when I began training for my first 1/2 marathon.  The rest is history.... or history in the making!?

Decided to run the malecon for my long run.  It's a no brainer.... down and back x2 with a little distance to add on at the end.  Overall it felt good.  There was a race going on down the end.  Ran along with some of the competitors for a bit.  Over this past week, I was able to meet a really neat person on the malecon.... he is working towards reaching 100 marathons in his lifetime and didn't start running them until he was 42 years old.  He is in the loop here with running so I am looking forward to finding out about the local races.  First 13.1 overall time of 1:51:53.... average pace at the end of it all was 8:40.  Did stop to use the restroom and take in some fluids.  It's getting warm here in Mazatlan!!!

Ran the malecon just for a short scoot.... recovering from yesterday's long run.  A bit sore on the left knee cap and my right heel was yelling at me this morning when I rolled out of bed and stepped on the hard floor.  First mile I felt my left knee and once I got warmed up, I no longer felt the achey pain as before.  In fact, the pain was totally gone.  Feel good now and looking forward to taking a nap later.  I did not sleep well last night.  Went to a friend's house for dinner and got home quite late.  They made some really spicy shrimp with jalepenos.  Once those jalepenos hit the frying pan, it sent an irritant through the whole house and we all started coughing like crazy.  Today, I almost feel like I had been out in a nightclub surrounded by smokers.  Lungs are a tad burny and I am still coughing a bit to clear it out of my lungs.... I gotta say.... the food was fabulous!!!  Shrimp and lobster tail!!!  My friends can really cook!!!

I woke up at 2am with the stomach flu.  Been sick all day with belly pain, chills, and a terrible headache not to mention the numerous bathroom trips I have had to make.  There is no way I can run today.

Still recovering from the stomach flu.  Hoping to maybe do some weights later here at home if I manage to muster some energy.  This thing has knocked me on my rear.  My husband and son both started with the same stomach thing last night.... it is going through the house now.  I will be glad when it's over for all of us.

First run after being sick for the past 2 days.  Boy did I feel it too!!  Sick to my stomach, thought I was gonna need a rest room and felt like my breathing just was so labored.  Fatigue is something I can contend with with it's related to exercise, but when it comes to illness, I don't fair so well.  I am just sooo tired.  Glad this 6 miles is over.  It was stop and go...but it's done.  Hoping tomorrow will be a better day.  Things just aren't quite right yet.

Nice run today here at the marina... starting to almost feel normal again (well as normal as I can get) since my stomach flu earlier this week.  Did 2 mile warm up then ran 0.41 mile repeats with pace ranging from 6:18 to 7:30's.  I felt I really needed a good workout since I had missed 2 runs earlier this week because of illness.  Completed the mileage with a cool down.  Was hoping for 8 miles today, but decided to cut back on the mileage since it was a bit of a challenge with the repeats and I was just beat!!!  I will be running tomorrow (it usually is may day off).  Postponing my long run till Monday morning.  My husband leaves for Arizona on Sunday :-(.

A little tired this morning after having a few beers last night with friends.... but got out there.  The run felt pretty good.  Beautiful morning along the malecon.  Pace was in the 8:30's per mile.  Did stop for fluids at mile 4.  I have some great news!!   I finally have a marathon!  I registered this morning for the Top of Utah Marathon coming this September in hopes of getting my BQ.  The pressure is now on and I've got some work to do.  Anyone else on here running it?  I would love to meet in person some of my fellow bloggers!!!  Any suggestions from anyone that has already run this one?  Training suggestions?  How about hotels in the area?
