Personal:

I have been married for almost 20 years.... Dave is the only man that I think that was placed specifically on this earth to tolerate my crazy ways.

I have 2 boys - ages 9 yrs. and 18 yrs. old (senior in high schoold and known on this blog as "Ironman"- they are fabulous kids - I am very blessed!!!

I am an RN and have been for around 12 years.

I lift weights regularly and work abs 2-3 days a week.  I enjoy the beach, like to sing, and love to run!!!

Quit smoking about 4 years ago and couldn't run 1/4 way around a track when I began... started with elliptical and then got into running more seriously.  Cranked up the mileage and intensity when I began training for my first 1/2 marathon.  The rest is history.... or history in the making!?

Took it easy today.  2 hours, 4 minutes, 14 seconds.  Quite windy on the malecon by the ocean this morning. At least 15-20 mile per hour head winds which made it a bit challenging at times and added some resistence.  Gave me an ear ache.  Didn't feel like I warmed up until mile 4.  At mile 6, GI upset sent me running for a bathroom inside one of the hotels.  Thank God I made it!!  Upset stomach lingered for the remaider of the run.  However, essentially felt in the zone after that until mile 10 when I started to just be a little tired from fighting the wind.  Scaling back a bit on mileage this week to allow may body to absorb all this training and recover.  Curious to see how I do with some faster paces at the end of the week once I am more rested.  Overall, I'm comfortable with the time and pace of this run considering the challenges that came with it.

No run today.  I have a sore throat and feel like a truck hit me.

Got my second wind later in the day and did weights upper body and completed 60 guy pushups while watching Spiderman....

Didn't sleep that well last night because of my throat and body aches.  My poor 6 yr. old Evan, woke up around 1AM with a fever.  By morning, both my boys were complaining of feeling sick to their stomachs.  Then, Evan vommitted all over the bathroom floor while he was getting ready for school.  I opted certainly to keep both boys home from school today.  My throat is still scratchy and I also have an upset stomach, but I didn't eat this morning - hoping for a nice scoot.  Legs were feeling good.  Ventured off to the gym and hopped on the treadmill for an 8 miler with 1% incline.  Totally in the zone.  Despite the sore throat, I faired quite well with my breathing.  Today is one of those days that I could have run a lot longer.  Home now nursing the sick and cranky.  Thankfully, I don't have to cook tonight.  Got a nice chicken pot pie for dinner from my baker friend....wow can she cook!!!

I have my boys home again today from school.  Poor kids are still under the weather.  I am ignoring my upset stomach and headache.  Tired, but didn't want to miss a run...so out the door I went.  Also got in my upper body weight routine and abs workout.  Anticipating a really nice night of sleep.  My 6 yr. old slept with me last night and was talking in his sleep half the night.  His fever broke this morning.  My oldest may be on his way to an ear infection.  We'll just have to see how they both are in the morning.

Still didn't sleep that great last night.  My youngest son is back to school today.  My oldest is home with an ear infection and fever.  I felt better this morning, so headed out to run the marina loop.  Legs didn't really feel warmed up until mile 3.  Didn't realize that I'm still having a bit of a stomach issue - but the longer I ran...the more I felt it.  Despite regurgitating my breakfast several times and indigestion throughout the last few miles, I was happy with the run (I apologize - but I am a nurse and no bodily function or gross subject is off-limits for discussion, however I will keep my comments clean).  Average pace 8:26 per mile.  Now that's what I'm talkin' about!!!!

Hoping to get in a nice 2-3 miler this evening... we will see how I feel later.

Felt good.... the run was a bit longer than I thought that I was going to do this morning, but I had the extra time - so there it is!!!  Got in my upper body and abs workouts today as well.  Starting to feel much more like myself again.  My oldest son is still home sick.  Poor kid.
