1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

Nice run in the evening with Christine.  She was very sweet about letting me walk half a mile first to warm up, then run excruciatingly slow for 1.3 miles, then walk another .6 of a mile or so.  She really is a good friend.   Looking forward to getting out there again tonight.  I am so grateful for the good examples of people who have handled injuries so well and continued working out and blogging like Paul, Cody, Scott Zincone, Clay, & Sarah.  It's going to be a good day.

Is the pain radiating down the leg into the calf, or is it up from the knee towards the hip. If it is IT band I would strongly recommend deep tissue massage on the glutes. If it is more hamstring, gentle massage along the belly of the hamstring into the insertion. Ice at the point of pain is also in order. If the pain is radiating down the leg towards the calf, I would guess soleus. Deep massage of your calves, and ice the origin of the muscle. Gentle stretching only, if you have a muscle strain aggressive stretching will only aggravate it more. Massage will be your friend, an appointment with an Active Release Therapist would also help. I hope you heal soon - Good Luck!

In regards to WW, I agree that changing eating behavior is a far more challenging task than most people recognize. Eating is tied to a person's emotional state, and entire social network - well said.

Cool. I hope you come so we can hang out, but I understand that if you know you're not running it would be hard to motivate yourself to come to SG. Is James running the 1/2? Would you consider the 5k? Maybe Mik'L would run the 5k w/ ya?

I try, when I have the time, to read other blogs as often as possible. And this is the second time I have randomly checked yours and seen my name mentioned. Thanks for the compliment.

I just might have to add you to my list of "Favorite Blogs"
