1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

I really had to drag myself out there tonight!  And I only did 2.  Not good.  *Sigh*  I am feeling a little bit of the post-Christmas, post-New Year's, post-vacation blues.  I need a well-placed kick in the pants, if any of you have your bloggee boots on...

Tonight my littlest guy turned 3!  I don't have any more babies--they are all growing up!   I'm not sure I like this pattern...  I try to persuade them to not eat their vegetables so they will stay little and not grow so fast, but that usually only produces a broccoli feeding frenzy.

Lybi, you have worked to hard to start slacking off, I do not want to see you run less than 5 miles tomorrow or I am coming down there and telling James to kick your butt!!! He's tougher than me so I will just have him do it!!!

Follow through...............

Lybi, you have been working so hard, just don't slack for too long, don't want to lose that hard earned conditioning. NO kick in the pants needed, you have been running great.

Stay Cool, B of BS Rools out

Here comes the official kick in the pants from the FRB admin :-) This gives me an idea for a feature - one click kick in the pants. Just click on a button.

To increase the number of children under 3 in your household, you need to spend more time with Sarah. We noticed a pattern - all of her friends have been getting pregnant lately, and her visiting teacher is actually pregnant with twins! We have a reason to believe that being around her increases a woman's fertility.

Lybi, maybe you need a day off (GASP!!!) I know that the day off this week for me really felt good,( although it didn't improve my run today) but then you have to get right back to training! O.K. who am I kidding I know nothing about running.... but we need to make a plan from here to Painters as I feel a little confused and under prepared!!

Lybi,

In regards to a taper for Painters it does not take much. A true taper is not really needed you just want to show up feeling good and rested. So sleep and good diet are probably a bigger factor. This weekend you could do a easy 8-10 miles as the last long run as long as this is about normal. I would do your normal mileage and routine MON-WED and then just cut back a little on THU and FRI. If you normally run 5 on THU do 3 and then on FRI just an easy 2 miles just to keep things loose. Just look at this as one of your long runs and enjoy it since it will be a PR. I hope this helps!

Thanks for the help Ted. And the rest of you, thanks! I definitely felt the kick and it got me excited about running today.
