1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

Wow.  How often can a person brag that they took a full min. off their 600 m record?  Yup.  It only took me 14 min. tonight to make my nightly meander around the lake.

By the way, don't worry, I wasn't TRYING to go faster.  Jeesh.  Everyone around here keeps telling me to get back in bed, back in bed.  If we had restraints at our house, I would probably be in them--tied to the bed & gagged. I promise I spend about 18 hours a day flat on my back.  I just don't like it.  And I think that .3 miles is short and slow enough to just get the blood flowing and wake up my legs a tiny bit.  Plus it's good to be in the habit of making time for exercise (if you can call walking this slowly exercise).

What I really need is for people on this blog to stop being so funny and making me laugh, because even the slightest chuckle feels downright painful (Marion, I am looking at you).

Well you are a trooper I would still be bent over hobbling!

Thanks April, but honestly, I probably SHOULD still be bent over....Today my incision hurt worse than yesterday, so I am going to stop walking for a while and let the darn thing heal a little more.

Lybi! What a close call! I am glad you and Danielle are doing well. Isn't a c-section--especially the recovery--intense? Keep standing as tall and straight as you can. It hurts like no other, but you have to remind your muscles how they suppose stand and walk. Definitely you are right--baby steps. Push your body a little each day, but be sure to rest, rest, rest as much as your four little ones will let you. Oh, I hope at least three other people are there to help you out in addition to James.

Do you find that you are grateful for your leg and arm muscles so you can still get in and out of chairs and your bed?

I promise your body will recover, eventually. Keep listening to it like you did today. Don't want to push too much. (I hope Adam doesn't mind that you can't pick him up.) Hang in there.

Lots of love,

Adrianne

Awwwwww. You miss me! How nice to pop on and find comments. I hereby vow to get out today and do some kind of slow, painful approximation of running in your honor, Burt and Brent.
