1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

I feel like a broken record player. 2.85 with Christine at 9:39 pace. Every morning just the same. But it's good, right? I have a schedule right now that is really working, and this slightly faster easy pace feels exactly the same as 10:30 pace used to feel. I felt great this morning--well rested, even. Ahhh.

2.15 on the treadmill.   I feel really good today.  It's hard to explain, but I feel like I have a spring in my lower back.  Not a bad feeling, just energy, and strength.   Does anyone know what I'm talking about?  Like somehow the muscles of the back play a role in running.  Anyway, it feels good.

Like you said, you may feel like a broken record, but you are being consistent and getting out each day! I have found that is very important! Even after dreadful Sunday Nap Syndrome, (in fact, especially after SNS!)

How hot is it for you guys now? Probably starting to get up there pretty good!

From James W on Tue, May 06, 2008 at 12:23:44

Good job out there today - just make sure you don't overdo it like I did! Another week or two of about 35 miles/week and you will probably want to bump up your mileage some more to prepare you for your next 1/2 marathon . . .

The broken record player is the key to breakthroughs.

Way to be a creature of habit! And good habits no less.

Actually I'd agree that the lower back plays a pivotal role in running in that your posture dictates where the force displacement is going to occur. i think that it's good that you feel "springy" and that you are in good shape. Don't worry about the "Broken record thing"; Sometimes that's beneficial to the body. Sasha will agree, as he argues a lot for consistent weekly 5x6 or 6x6 mile runs for several months (This is one of my goals at some point this month) . Keep up the work!

I completely agree with the monotomy - not from you, but from me. I feel like my blogging is the same day after day! I need some excitement!

From Christi on Tue, May 06, 2008 at 21:32:16

Glad you have a bounce in your step today! Great job!

From Brent on Tue, May 06, 2008 at 22:29:25

Lybi, what is the song on that broken record? Bueller, Bueller, Bueller, I hope not. Consistency really pays off.

A spring in your step, a smile as you run, a sweet smell in the air, what a great day for a broken record run. Read Tom's blog, every day running is a great day.

Stay Kool, keep the old record player working, B of BS Rools out

I feel like a broken record . . . I feel like a broken record . . . I feel like a broken record . . . j/k! BTW, if you are getting tired of your current 2.85 mile jaunt with Christine, I have another course for you that measures exactly 2.85 miles. I'll tell you about it if you want me to. I'll take a broken record any day if it will get me another PR at St. George (assuming I get in, of course).
