1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

5 miles today.

Has anyone else ever gotten one of those creepy notices in the mail that a convicted (sexual) criminal lives close to you?  I am slightly freaked out about outside running in the darkness.  Sometimes people are scarier than mountain lions.

But on a happier note, well, not happy exactly, but more uplifting... You all must check out cjanerun.blogspot.com.   This is the most touching story I've ever heard.  There is a young couple from Mesa that were severely burned in a private plane crash.  The man, Christian, was burned over 30% of his body.  The woman, Stephanie, is still in very critical condition and was burned over 80% of her body.  They will be in the burn unit of the hospital for months and months--and they have 4 little tiny children.  cjane is the sister of Stephanie.  She is caring for the oldest 3 children.  Every day I read this blog and cry sweet tears.  Stephanie had a wonderful blog that seemed to have a message that home truly can be a heaven on earth.  Her message has been amplified by the tragedy.  You must all read about it!  No suffering must be wasted without spreading this message.

There seems to be one of those types of criminals in every neighborhood...rich or poor. Sasha and I did a search before we bought our home. I was concerned that the lower income area would mean higher rate of yucky criminal behavior. The percentage was about the same in the nicer areas. One guy was active in our ward. His was a lesser crime but nevertheless he made it to the page. Okay...I'm gonna go check out that blog...having trouble sleeping tonight so I'm up past my bedtime.

Lybi, more important things in life than running. I think that they should send them all to an island surrounded by sharks, never to return.

Lybi, I am scared of mountain lions but I always put myself in an environment with them. For me its on purpose. I just dont think Ill ever get bugged. But it just never hurts to take proper precautions for it. Have you run with mace or anything like that? Im telling you now that it gets darker earlier, I am amazed at the ladies I run into on a park trail in pitch darkness. It scares me! Just be careful out there ok!? I cant wait to see you at SGM hopefully at the park to introduce you to my wife and girlies.

I saw a little bull snake on Saturday. So this morning I was thinking about the possibility of other more venemous snakes trying to stay warm on the heat conserving asphalt. Then I saw this plastic bag that was moving ever so slowly in the breeze that I though it was a desert tortoise. Here's the bad part; it scared the begeebeez out of me.

Thanks for the post about Stephanie and Christian. I work with a member of her bishopric. That's how she got on our Ragnar team.

So maybe we've finally found something to cure you of running in the dark? he he. I'm sorry that the neighborhood is ruined. Stay safe :)

Hey Lybi,

Nice to hear from you! Looks like the running is going great for you, that's always good to see!

The new puppy.... for sure a chewer, but Clyde and Mik'L say that will go away with age. As for the bladder, too soon to tell! Let's just say that there are ups and downs to having a new puppy. I didn't realize this till just now and I hope that you won't be offended but McCall got her for her b-day and named her Libbie. She was born on the 2nd of July and so her real name is Liberty but Libbie for short (I think that is how she decided to spell it?) It really should be an honor she darling!

Are you guys coming to St.George for the marathon? I think me and my girls will go down so it would be really fun to see you guys again!

Michelle, I will be in St. George for sure, screaming my head off for all the bloggers in the race. I need to get a bull horn. This is going to be so GREAT! I'll see you at the blogger party, right? I think there's something about it on the discussion forum somewhere. James said it's going to be in a park, or something like that.
