My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

3 miles on the treadmill, slow. Absolutely no problem with the toe, which was slightly disconcerting. I probably should have run on Saturday...dang.

Hey, since I've decided this is my off season and I'm not feeling all that inclined to race, I've come up with a new goal to help keep me motivated.  I just checked back on the blog to see what my record is for most consecutive days of running since I started up running and blogging over a year ago.  It is 24 (Sundays don't count).  It was right after I humiliated myself at the Provo City Half, and right before my recent break-through 5K.  So here are the rules: must be at least 2 miles.   OK, I guess there's only one rule.  But anyway, let the games begin!  Today is day one.  Hopefully I will make it to day 25 and beyond!

And in other news, I moped around the house in my pjs today until the day was half over because I was sulking that my parents left for home this morning.  We had such a nice visit with them!  If I were to design a heavenly life for me and I was completely in charge, my parents would live in our cul de sac, along with the rest of my siblings and several other dear friends. It would have to be a big cul de sac, I guess. There'd be several people from the blog there, too, and running buddies galore. And summers wouldn't be so dang hot...I could go on and on...

In other news, my little brother just got engaged!!! I am happy for him.

Yeah! I was really hoping your toe would heal quickly. I had a toe injury yesterday too-it must have been a sympathy injury. :-) Funny, it feels much better now...

Your goal sounds like a great way to stay motivated during the off-season. And yeah for good family news!!

You think you humiliated yourself at the Provo City 1/2? Pullleeaaasee! Can't you do any better than that? I was so impressed at how you did for your first ever 1/2. Consider that for your first 1/2, you ran at almost the same pace as I did for my first marathon . . .

I like your goal - gives you something to shoot for. That means you will have to run when we have both our family reunions, though . . .

Yeah! Glad to see your quick recovery! I love your goal. I am going to copy it;) Should we make it an open competition?

Oh and by the way- I would LOVE to have your 1/2 time. My goal is 2 hours and I am not sure I can do it. Time will tell.

I like that goal too..

Have you seen the discussion on Cheston's blog about converting different activities ..such as biking into running miles? I wonder how many miles Moms get for chasing children? I was trying to give myself double everything for being pregnant too. ;)

You inspired me to go back and look at my consecutive running days. I am excited to say that it is at 45. I went back through one hundred days, (excluding Sundays), and found that I have ran all but 5 of those days scattered here and there between 45 -100. That is a fun thing to go back and see. It is also very motivating to keep it going good. What a great idea to help keep you motivated. Good luck getting the family reunion days in there! It will be fun to run in different places you are at this summer. And your families will all want to be just like you. (They probably have a million other reasons they all want to be just like you...this will just add another one to the list!) You are awesome Lybi! Keep up the good work! (If you have time now that you had to spend so much time reading this long comment.)

Kim--Holy COW! You are doing fabulous. No wonder you've been doing so well. You've practically lapped me in the consistency department, but just watch out...I'm gonna getcha!

Sarah, double is conservative! Triple would be fine by me. It'd be cool to have a lady in her 3rd trimester at the top of the mileage board. I suspect that it might cause convulsions among the mileage-tense among us, though.

Marion--I'll take the challenge! You're going DOWN chica! I hope you like humble pie! (Sorry, but smack-talking is part of the ceremonial ritual of challenge initiation.)

James--thanks, I guess I should have said "humbled by." It wasn't really humiliating, although I did get passed by a lady with a rump the size of Texas. (I was pretty inspired by that, actually.)

Shauna get well soon! Stupid walls--always getting in the way. ;)

Lybi, how big is that cul de sac? Does it have a running trail of soft wood chips all around the outside? Is the weather always just right for running?

Stay Kool, good goal, B of BS Rools out

Glad the toe is OK! Sounds like a great visit with Ma & Pa too. I love your creative goals- inspires me!
