Today was one of those epic runs where you remember why you run. Dave, Steve, Kevin Cave, and I went and ran the West Rim Trail this morning in Zion National Park. We started at Lava Point but started a little late because we had to get the van out of the snow since it was stuck. That was a great start to the adventure.
Temps were absolutely perfect and we ended up running in snow for the first little bit of the run. We ended up seeing four people on the upper section of the trail which was a bit of a surprise. The mud was dry enough because it was cold so lots of the trail was soft. Perfect! We got just above Angel's Landing and started seeing more people along the trail. It was fun blasting down the trail and hearing everyone's comments. Lots of good memories. We made it down to the Grotto and ran down the canyon until the bridge. We pushed the last 2.5 miles pretty well. Tons of deer along the trail and the colors were unbelievable. 20 total miles and a really sore body to show for it. Totally worth it. Glad I was able to do it with these guys.
