3 miles with the cross country team at Little Valley Park. Nice little clip we were at. I then saw Clyde running by and decided to do his Bloomington Loop with him to add some more mileage. Total mileage was 9.5 and 6:56/mile. Good way to start the week. Katey and Norah got me a Magic Bullet for Father's Day. I am very excited to start using it! Katey went out with some of the girls tonight so I took Norah in the jogging stroller for a nice 4 mile run around Ivins. It was a little warm but overall it felt nice because the wind was blowing. Norah seemed to enjoy it. She didn't complain much.

4 miles with some of the boys on the cross country team around Little Valley Park. I then did part of Clyde's loop to tack on some more mileage for this morning. Almost caught the 7:00 minute guy. On a sad note, some of my girls were finishing their run and came upon a elderly lady who had been hit by someone and left on the road. Whoever hit her just took off. A hit and run. Are you kidding me? One of my assistants and I hurried over there just as the ambulance was arriving. Two of my girls had to see this. They seem to be doing okay though. We talked with the officers for a minute and then life flight came. It does not look good for the lady. I was pretty upset at first because I have 30+ kids out on the roads and I cannot be everywhere at once to watch them. I share this story to make sure everyone stays safe while running out on the roads. Drivers are just plain idiots! No run this afternoon due to having fun at the lake and then staying up until 1:30am doing graduate work. Yeah!!!

2 miles before practice on the grass at Little Valley and then did 5.75 miles with my top group of boys. I am optimistic about this season for them. They should be pretty good if they can stay healthy and keep working hard. It is supposed to be 104 degrees today so I am probably not going to run until later in the evening.
Katey is out of town the rest of the week so getting my runs in will be a little tricky. I waited until Norah went to bed around 7pm to get my second run in. I went with my little brother and one of his friends. We did a loop out into Ivins. 7:43/mile. My brother said he will never run with me again. I guess the pace was to fast. Bummer!

1 mile before practice around Little Valley and then 5.25 miles with some of the boys. Nice run this morning. Just over 7:00/mile. Temps are really starting to warm up.
10 mile run at club run with Dave, Clyde, and Aaron. We started at 7pm and it was 106 degrees. We all complained about the heat but we survived. Barely! Nice to get more miles in but what added to the misery was nice headwind for 2 miles which made the run much more memorable. Averaged around 6:40/mile. |

| | 6 miles this morning. The team did grass loops at Little Valley. It was a nice change of pace for the team. I might do more later. We will see. |

Ran the Utah Hill loop out off the Bloomington Loop this morning with Dave, Steve, and Wildbull. We kept it nice and relaxed through the first loop and really did well going up the monster hill. It is a real lung burner. Those 3 just did the 14 mile loop with me and then I refueled and went back out for another 8 miles. We saw a little coyote that seemed to be struggling. We think it got away from its mother. I had some extra Powerade but I couldn't catch him fast enough. It started to get really warm but I had a nice little breeze that cooled me off. I was going to go longer but did not have enough time. I loved the New Balance 101 shoes I got yesterday. They are really light and helped a ton. I once again hydrated well throughout the run and felt pretty strong. I averaged 7:30/mile. I was happy to see this considering all of the fun hills.
This is probably one of the best weeks running I have had in a while. I will get up to a 30 mile run for my 50k. It should be fun. |
