Norah was up all night being sick so no run this morning.

9 miles total this afternoon. We had the Panther Relays today which is always fun for the team. The ultimate race of the day is the open mile. Dave and I usually do a little trash talking but it was fairly mild this year. Jogged around watching the kids and probably did too many strides. Needless to say, I was warmed up. I decided to draw a Stop Holt sign on my singlet to see if it would freak him out. It didn't.

The race started and I decided to run smart. Dave and Trevor took off like 9th grade boys and went out hard. I hit the first 400 in 69 and told myself to just run. The team was saying all the good stuff I tell them in races, "stay relaxed, eyes up, relax your shoulders, close the gap." Nice to know they listen. I closed the gap a little on the second lap and heard 2:20 for the 800. Nice! Worked closer to Dave on the third lap and then just went for it on the bell lap. Caught Dave on the turn and passed him. Held him off until the 200 mark and then his long legs were just to much for my short, squatty legs. He blew by me and I tried to go with him. Got to the finish line and saw 4:44. Dave ran 4:41 and got me by a few seconds. Darn.

I ended up throwing up in the garbage can after the race. I guess I raced hard. This was a ton of fun and I think we need to do more track meets for adults. It is a great atmosphere and fun for everyone involved. Happy with a 4:44. I just wanted to BYU qualify and hit sub-4:50. Check!

Cooled down a bit and called it a day. Lots of fun today.

Congrats to Dave and his long legs!

Nice job on the race and I'm proud you left it all on the track and also in the garbage can. I think I could have dropped a 6:44.

I didn't win best legs for nothing! Okay... I didn't win best legs - or nothing.
