I got up at 4 a.m.  and my sinus's felt better and my headache was gone but my stomach still felt uneasy.  I said several prayers then decided to run.  I was so disappointed that I had trained so hard but now felt so ill.   If I would have realized it was going to be so cold and rainy I may have stayed home or at least worn different clothing.   Jamie, my brother and I got on a bus at about 5 a.m.  When we got to Central it was raining, the wind was blowing and it was cold.  My mental state at that time was very low.  I slowly ate my cliff bar praying my stomach would be okay.    Ran two miles with my sweatshirt on.  It was quite dark and everyone was bunched very tightly together.  At about mile 3 I was running along when my husband ran up beside me.  I was surprised because he had started with the elite runners.   He started having trouble breathing so he stopped and rested a few minutes then he saw me so he decided he would just run with me.   I had to take my sweatshirt off at mile 3 because it was so heavy from the rain.   I was so cold in my shorts and short sleeved shirt.  My nose immediately started running.  I felt pretty good until about mile 12.   I was so cold.  My leg muscles started to lock up and my stomach began to hurt.  I must have had my shoulders scrunched up also because my shoulders started to ache.   My husband pushed me but at mile 20 I had a sharp pain in my chest and I couldn't breath so I walked for about 30 seconds.  It was a struggle the last six miles because I had a hard time taking in deep breaths. My mental strength was gone.  I am glad my husband pushed me the last 6 miles because I was ready to give up. I was so whimpy.  We didn't stay at the park long.  We found my brother then got our bags and walked to the car.  The hot shower felt so good.   Later we went to Famous Dave's for dinner.

Update:  I am starting to like the slower time.  I don't feel nearly as sore as I felt last year.  I can actually sit down for about 30 minutes and get up with no problems.  I even went down my brother-in-laws steps without my quads screaming in pain. Wow, I also just realized I still Boston qualified.  Unfortunately Jamie didn't.  That's okay.  We are planning on Boston 2010.

Congratulations on persevering and surviving the run. It was a tough one between the cold, rain and head winds.

p.s. You might want to adjust your time - it looks like you ran 3 minutes, not 3 hours.

No way you are whimpy. Not feeling good and still willing to go in that weather! You are very tough! Nice job on the BQ and not an easy day to get it.
