Did a speed work out. Hello heat!

2.25 warm-up miles then 8 X 400's with a recovery lap in between.

cool down (not really.. it was just a slow hot mile) then stretched.

The cool weather was nice while it lasted.

Great job! Sounds like you fared better than I did in the heat. Are you following the brain training plan? (I am) Our workouts for the last two days have been identical.

It was a little cooler here than in Phoenix.

I like the 400s because you can tell yourself that you just have to go around once then you get that slow recovery lap. When I am preparing for the St. George marathon I really like 800's. I read somewhere that your 800's time can be converted into hours to help you prepare for a marathon. So if your run your 800's in 3:50 and work up to 10 all at 3:50 then you can probably run a marathon in 3 hours and 50 minutes. That theory has helped me every time.

Here is my usual training plan.

easy run on monday

some kind of speed workout on tuesday

easy 3 miles or bike/ weights on wednesday

speedwork or hills on thursday

easy 3 or bike/weights on friday

long run on saturday.
