No results are posted yet, but I'm not sure how we stand. I know we were not competitive but I ran my best. I think I was the only person who stayed within 1 minute of my predicted time. I was runner 7. Start time 6:30 pm First leg relatively flat little downhill, and yet a rookie at heart I took off too fast. Temp 90. mile times 11:22, 12:17, 12:18, 12:23 Second leg, start time 3:19am, two hours of sleep, temp 38. This has a good downhill in the first mile and then climbed higher with each mile. Total elevation gain was over 600ft. miles times 12:17, 13:03, 15:15, 15:07 Last leg, temperature 95, start time 2:30am , but there was a breeze and it didn't feel like the sun was cooking me but the radiant heat coming up from the asphalt was frying me. Oooh it was so hot. I had the van stop at least every mile so that I could spray myself with water and that really helped. This leg was really flat and quite nice to run. mile times 11:40, 12:41, 11:48, 13:20 I had lots of fun, I am a little tight and sore but not incapacitated and feel like I got a really good workout. Missed the FRB teams but it's hard to see everyone in this race. Ragnar not only hurt our runner but killed our car as it overheated. We were pawning off our last runners with any car that drove by so that they at least would be where they needed to wait. Our team won a case of myomed, something like the most beautiful disaster, after disaster, after disaster. We were an all girl team called Darla Angels. Darla was the team captain sis in law who died last year at 38 after an 8 year battle with breast cancer. So our car was decorated in that theme. It was a bit crude in some places but we laughed and so did some onlookers. |
