It was a great race.  I ran the whole race with Laurie. My doctor said I should wait and do a spring marathon and let my knee heal.  So much for that. My knee started to feel great 4 weeks before the marathon so I started to increase my long runs.  My longest run was 8.4 miles 2 weeks be for the marathon.  The week before I did the Heber Valley Century.  It was my first 100 mile bike and a lot of fun.

We stayed with my bro. and sis-in-law and then live about 15 mins from down town.  My bro.-in-law droped us down town on race day.  I was nice not to have to worry about parkin a car. Race day was great I had no pressure and no time to beat.  Just another traning day but in a different city. If I was luck I wouldn't hurt like other marathons (little did I know).  It started out a little cold but not that bad.  It sprinkled off and on for the first 14 miles.  I started to feel my pain in my quads about mile 15 and about mile 22 I was trashed.  We were on PR pace for laurie up untill about mile 15 or 16.  The last 3 miles I did every thing I could just to keep up with Laurie.  I walked most of the last 3 miles at a fast pace to keep up as much as I could.  It felt better to run the down hills faster.  I did a little leep frog with laurie.  I would run ahead and then walk untill she got a bit in front of me.

The finish line sucked.  You climbed a graduale hill and then turned a corner to have the finsh 100 meters from the turn.  I hate finish lines like that.  You can't wait to be done but you can't see the finish untill you are there.
