Running Accomplishments:

I started running in the fall of 2007.  I truly believe I was inspired to start running and I have seen some very big blessings come my way because of following that inspiration.

Ran Boston Marathon 2013 & 2014.  My favorite PRs:  2011 at the SG 1/2 and 5K where I ran the 5K in 22:22.    2013 Nebo 1/2 (downhill) 1:36:15

Short-Term Running Goals:

Long-Term Running Goals:

Running throughout life with Tom. Staying healthy and happy.

Learn from others, learn from myself, work hard, do my best, enjoy!

On running and on life.....

On occasion we need to make a second effort - and a third effort, and a fourth effort, and as many degrees of effort as may be required to accomplish what we strive to achieve.

This morning Tom and I started out a bit earlier than ususal so I could get started on my new fun thing!  Tom and I did 5 miles then he continued while I went to the church to meet up with 18 ladies who wannarunna 5k!  I have gathered this group together for a 9 week training program to a 5k.  These are mostly ladies who have never done any running.  It was so fun to get them together this morning!  I hope they all stick with it.

After I got home from that I got the kids off to school and the phone rang.  One of the ladies who had planned to go this morning had accidentally slept in.  She wanted to go out and do day one so I told her I would come down and do it with her.  So since I did the training two times and then came home and took my doggy for a quick little run I am going to combine that to make my 6 for the day.  Each of the trainings are just under 2 miles right now.

Whoa....the wind and the snow are suppose to go away now, right?  They were there for Tom and I in full force this morning and tried their best to get us to turn around and go back to bed.  But they did not win!  We are glad we stuck with it because it all seemed to settle down after the first few miles and we were able to have a nice, enjoyable run.

This morning I met up with my "iwannarunna5k" gals for thier day number 2!  I was so proud of them!  All of them showed up plus one more even when it was chilly and windy!  So there are 19 following my little training here in town and a few others following along in other areas!  This will all lead up to their first 5k on May 21st!  Sad story today though.....one gal fell.  She was so cute, just smiled and jumped up and finished the workout.  It was dark out so she couldn't really see what she had done to herself.  She just knew that she had scraped up her hands a bit.  Well...I just got an update from her....she went home and found gravel in her hands and as she started trying to wash it out she realized her knee was hurting....long story short.....she had to have 8 stitches and a tetnus shot!  : (  How sad.....but she said, "I love this and I'll see you Friday morning!"  What a trooper!

Later Tom and I went out for our run in the sunshine.  Unfortunately there was still more wind than we wanted, especially for a tempo run, but that's life here in the windy city.  We did a 3 mile warm up and then a 3 mile tempo with a 2 mile cool down.  Ave. Pace for tempo 7:40.

Since I have to get up a bit earlier to get my run in before I meet with my little 5K training group I was able to meet up with Kay this morning.  Tom decided to catch a few more Z's and head out on his own.  It was fun to get 5 and a half miles in with my buddy Kay!  I will probably meet up with her at least on Fridays for a while.

Today was the end of week number one for my little followers!  They are doing so well!  I'm proud of them getting out in the early morning and in the wind and cold!  There were a few missing this morning, but hopefully they will be here Monday!

Tom came up for a good name for my little group.....Kim and the Kardio-dashians!  How's that?  I thought it was pretty clever!  I might have to suggest it to my Ragnar group!

Fourteen maybe felt a little more like 15 or 16 with the gusty, cold wind that joined us yet once again!  For some reason though...it's all still fun!  Enjoyable company, nice places to run, healthy legs and bodies....ya gotta love it!
