Running Accomplishments:

I started running in the fall of 2007.  I truly believe I was inspired to start running and I have seen some very big blessings come my way because of following that inspiration.

Ran Boston Marathon 2013 & 2014.  My favorite PRs:  2011 at the SG 1/2 and 5K where I ran the 5K in 22:22.    2013 Nebo 1/2 (downhill) 1:36:15

Short-Term Running Goals:

Long-Term Running Goals:

Running throughout life with Tom. Staying healthy and happy.

Learn from others, learn from myself, work hard, do my best, enjoy!

On running and on life.....

On occasion we need to make a second effort - and a third effort, and a fourth effort, and as many degrees of effort as may be required to accomplish what we strive to achieve.

Woo Hoo! Under 2 hours for me! I was hoping to get close to Painter's time, (2:05:something), but had heard many people tell me this was a more difficult course. So I really would have been happy with anything around 2:05!

I was very pleased as we headed out in the morning that it wasn't quite as terrible as the weatherman had predicted. In fact it was just perfect! However at the starting line I still heard a lot of whining about the cold! I figured they must be from somewhere really warm, but I asked them and they said they were from Bountiful. They must not have been running outside much this winter or they would have appreciated it!

I pretty much ran most of the race alone. There were some nice people along the way to help pump me up when needed! One girl in particular, Kambria, (hopefully she will join in on the blog), pulled me along at times and I was able to pull her along at times.

The hills and wind on the last few miles were definitely not fun! But I kept thinking of two people in my life who are not able to get out and run, (but both of them would if their circumstances would let them)! I kept going for them!

I ended up stripping down to just the singlet on top. I got pretty heated up. But not long after ditching the long sleeves the wind kicked in really good. I was happy to have Tom at the end with a sweatshirt all ready for me. The end weather was way worse than at the beginning.

My average pace ended up being 8:58 with my splits as follows...

8:29, 8:04, 8:19, 8:39, 8:26, 8:44, 8:42, 8:59, 9:33, 10:01, 9:44, 9:26, 9:28

It was fun to stay up there and be with the blogger gang again! Everyone is so nice! The speedsters all talk to me and encourage me just as they do each other! It was so fun to come running into the finish line with lots of people cheering for me and yelling my name! Thanks to everyone for your encouragement and support!

Oh ya, I wanted to add that I was quite disappointed not to get a medal around my neck for finishing. I thought all half marathons did that. But I was informed that Painter's is just lucky because they have Steve Hooper adding so much to the race. A big thank you to Steve and the St. George Running Store for providing so much to the races down there in St. George!

Addition,(mostly for my information): I just looked at the results. I came in 253 out of 435 finishers. That means there were 182 behind me. But I was 82 out of 197 in female finishers. That means there were 115 women behind me!

Great run, Kim! You and Tom are both inspirational runners.

From Tom on Sat, Apr 05, 2008 at 17:53:18

WOW Baby!!! This was an awesome run, maybe the most impressive of all the bloggers today in my book!!!!

I knew you would do well but I certainly would not have predicted a sub-2 with the nasty headwind the last 1/2 of the race.

WOW really DOES pay off! More great things to come I am certain. You are already knocking on a the door of a sub-4 at SGM and that's with 6 mos of training still to improve a bunch more!

I'm DANG proud of you today!!!!!

From josse on Sat, Apr 05, 2008 at 18:18:41

Great job on the PR! The end of this course was really tough. All the wind and rolling hills. You did awsome.

From Andy on Sat, Apr 05, 2008 at 18:24:02

Great job. How is it that you had such a great time and everybody else suffered so much?

From Mik'L on Sat, Apr 05, 2008 at 18:45:13

I hope you are as excited about your time as I am! I think you did awesome! It was fun to hang out with you guys and I promise your van was nice and clean! Keep up those awesome miles, they obviously pay off!

From Sylvie on Sat, Apr 05, 2008 at 18:47:57

Bye :)

From Brent on Sat, Apr 05, 2008 at 19:19:30

Kim, major commando points for you, 150 commando points for the PR on a not PR day. The WOW factor did pay off.

Good job Kim. Your amazing to pull off a good race like that on such a junky day! It was fun hanging out with you guys last night. Thanks for taking us up there.

From Lybi on Sat, Apr 05, 2008 at 19:58:42

Wow, Kim you are my hero! Now after running my first half, those splits mean a little more to me. Look at that 8:04! You have been training so well, and your WOW status has definitely paid off. Congrats on the PR! I thought about you during my race, wishing I could have had you there too, but it looks like you would've dusted me on mile 2! Great job. Hopefully I will see you tomorrow at the Pachevs.

From Jody on Sat, Apr 05, 2008 at 20:27:10

Congratulations!! You ran a great race and your splits were awesome! All of your hard work has paid off!! I wish I had been there to cheer you on, but family calls!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! With such rotten weather and hills, that PR means even more! 6-1/2 minutes faster than Striders -- you ROCK!

From Kim on Sat, Apr 05, 2008 at 20:43:12

Thanks everyone!

Thanks for the commando points today! I think I was able to cash some in also!

And Bonnie...Yes, Tom and I WILL do something nice tonight...SLEEP!!!! And better yet, we can SLEEP IN! (If our bodies and our kids let us!)

From Christi on Sat, Apr 05, 2008 at 21:26:43

What a race! EXCELLENT TIME! You have earned this & what's up with no medal- bah humbug!

From Cody on Sat, Apr 05, 2008 at 21:34:58

Kim- Nice Job! My vote is to steal Tom's medal. He wins enough as it is right? Very impressive time today. Enjoy that feeling of accomplishment! It was nice to chat with you and Tom. Hopefully, we can chat again sometime soon.

From Clay on Sat, Apr 05, 2008 at 23:08:41

Great job Kim it was so fun to see you finish, you really inspired my wife Cindie, who knows maybe she will start running.

She was mad at me that she didn't get to meet you too, I will be paying for that one for a couple of days!!!

Just kidding:-)

From James on Sat, Apr 05, 2008 at 23:51:59

It is always tough to get stuck out there on your own for that long. Very good job today!

From jtshad on Sun, Apr 06, 2008 at 08:21:15

Great run and great job on the PR! A sub 2:00 finish is awesome!

From Ian on Sun, Apr 06, 2008 at 09:04:01

Well done Kim, PR and a sub 2 in tough conditions. I find it especially hard to run alone in a race, you've done great. You're inspiring my wife to think about training for and running a half.

From Jon on Sun, Apr 06, 2008 at 09:48:03

Great job- I loved your ripping on the Bountiful people for being too soft! Treadmills all winter do not make one tough in the cold! And to run that fast with the headwind is awesome. Keep it up!

From Terry on Sun, Apr 06, 2008 at 15:59:59

Great Job on improving your time! I didn't know you had a sub 9 pace in you. Don't feel to bad for that Tom guy. He's had to many PRs lately.

From Kerry on Sun, Apr 06, 2008 at 20:27:44

Great race, Kim! A very impressive performance under some tough conditions (and for this early in the year). We're looking for some great things from you this summer.
