Running Accomplishments:

I started running in the fall of 2007.  I truly believe I was inspired to start running and I have seen some very big blessings come my way because of following that inspiration.

Ran Boston Marathon 2013 & 2014.  My favorite PRs:  2011 at the SG 1/2 and 5K where I ran the 5K in 22:22.    2013 Nebo 1/2 (downhill) 1:36:15

Short-Term Running Goals:

Long-Term Running Goals:

Running throughout life with Tom. Staying healthy and happy.

Learn from others, learn from myself, work hard, do my best, enjoy!

On running and on life.....

On occasion we need to make a second effort - and a third effort, and a fourth effort, and as many degrees of effort as may be required to accomplish what we strive to achieve.

I'm not usually a numbers kind of gal, but I wanted to see the times for different paces that I might be running Painter's in. I thought I'd share it here for any of you who are in the same range. My run is coming this afternoon, so I'll add that info then.

Nice afternoon run.  I know some of you don't approve of the .15 added onto the miles.  But I am one who puts whatever it says on the Garmin.  If the extra .1 doesn't matter then I guess it's OK if I stop at 13 miles next week when I run Painter's Half.  I'll just tell the officials that the last .1 doesn't really matter.

Ave. Pace for today was 9:48.  I hope that next week with a drop in altitude, a gain in temperature, a drop in amount of clothing having to be worn, a gain in bloggie and race support, and a gain in race day magic make the stars line up for a really great race.  I hope I don't disappoint myself.  Actually, anything better than 2:17 will be a PR for me.  So in reality I will be happy with anything under that.  However, the closer it gets to 2 hours the happier I will be!

Good job on the run today! Did you decide to wait until the weather got sufficiently nasty or something?

From Kim on Fri, Jan 11, 2008 at 16:49:27

You know me, I'm a little confused! This is actually the first I was able to get it in. It wasn't really that bad here. The snow was coming very gently and there was NO wind. No wind=happy running Kim.

Good job getting it done... I hope all that you said above works well for us both even with some of those factors, and there are quite a few we will both be happy about the outcome. Couple of questions, I know that we will have to look at the forcast when it gets closer, but I am wondering what to wear compaired with what I have been wearing and if I should bring the ipod along or not? I don't know if I will maintain the same pace with those of you around me and it really helps to pass the time, and I'm a little afraid that if I get chatting too much it might slow me down, but also would like to be able to visit some and enjoy having runnig partners around if we are maintaining a compatable pace? What are your thoughts there?

From Kim on Fri, Jan 11, 2008 at 17:38:34

I say bring the Ipod. You never know when it might come in handy and it doesn't weigh you down. As far as clothing, I am also at a loss. Maybe some of our St. Georgian friends can tell us what they run in lately. I would love to wear shorts! I agree with the chatting...there may be times when it's needed and other times when it needs to be zone out time. I am really getting excited about this. I have looked forward to it the past 2 times I have done it, but I haven't been working as hard for it. I hope the stars align in our favor!

Kim, that all looks like real fuzzy math but makes sense once I caught on. I think you will be much closer to the 2 hr running with Fast Running Chickas. You are kind of the bad weather running girl, the heck with good weather. Ipod? do you "sign" when listening to the music or "sing" out load? Ipods seem weird to me when running with others unless you can really sing. Maybe I should start a thread about Ipods, like em or hate em? No way after the WW.

Brent, When I put it in the spread sheet it wouldn't let me use : Whenever I did that it tried to make it AM or PM. So It kind of looks like nine point three instead of 9 minutes 30 seconds. Anyway, I hope I know what I am doing...I always have been a little fuzzy with math.

About the Ipod...I have learned to do most of my runs without music, even when alone. But if someone wants one for distraction while they are running with me I am not offended. I myself like the zone out with your own thoughts when needed. Wish you and Sylvie were going to be there!
