Well, first marathon in over 6 years. Trained with old friend, Nate Smith, and his family crew of runners. I think there were around 10 of us that were staying together, and had done group training runs.

Nate had big plans to qualify for Boston. My heart wasn't all the way in the training. Ever since I started antidepressants in 2015, the running mojo has been non-existent. I had faked some runs with him on Saturdays in Springville, and Nate is a complete animal; he has a sky-high pain threshold, and guts out amazing performances when it counts.

We started together, and after a mile, I had to let him go.

All marathons are long. Some marathons get hot. This one did. Left hip flexor was really tight and painful; icy hot and ice packs for the last 7 miles of the race helped a lot.

I loved this marathon. It was extremely rewarding to train for and run another. The only bad thing was my yo-yo girlfriend picked a fight, and bailed on spending the weekend together. I would have enjoyed having her there to soak up the vibe and give me a hug. Instead we yakked on the phone afterward. (shrugs shoulders) I hate missed opportunities, especially when the reasons for the miss are so effing stupid.
