4 easy miles avg 7:20 pace. This was my 39th birthday.
As I went into each of the kids rooms to get them up for school I sang, “Happy birthday to me happy birthday to me.” I climbed into Elsa’s bed with her and said, “Can you believe I’m 39?” Then I said, “Actually 39 isn’t that bad, but I’m really going to have a hard time next year when I turn 40.” Canyon walked in and said, “You think about your age way too much mom.” I said, “When I’m 40 there’s a really good chance my life is more than half over, a lot of people don’t live to be 80.” Then I started singing, “Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me, my life is half over, what am I going to be?”
To make the sting of a birthday even worse I felt like my body was falling apart. My legs hurt and I couldn't tell if it was shin splint type pain or if it was in my bone. I really started worrying about it and decided to cross train for a few days. |
