Tough workout to end the week. Goal was 16 miles with one or so fast at the end. Wanted to hover between 7:30-7:45 on the way out and near 7:20 on the way back but mostly off of feel. Then one mile sub-7 and perhaps a half near 6:30. Ran the parkway North for 8 miles with Scott (avg 7:28). Scott's stomach started acting up so he backed off. First few heading back felt good (7:14, 7:12, 7:13) and then a strong headwind came out of nowhere. I upped the effort to maintain (7:18, 7:22, 7:17). Pushed hard for the last effort and came in at 6:57. Though it was a little slower at the end, I am pleased with the effort and being able to push through. |
