Took my 7 year old to run the half mile race. He has shown an interest in running and did a mile race a couple of weeks ago in 8:44. Today he did the half mile in 4:00, super proud of him. I warmed about 1.5 miles, i like a longer warm up it helps my back loosen up. But that is all i had time for. Saw Kristie and the start and we were off. The 1st half mile is a pretty good up hill followed by a mile of down and finishing with a flat mile. The ending was different than last time i did this race. You turned at the smith field house and went up and turned and then went through these little underpasses and turns and finally making it on to the track. I didn't feel it from the get go and knew I was going to do any thing to brag about so I just ran with one fast mile in the middle. I guess I need to work on shorter speed if I want to break 20 in the 5k. But I don't really care that much right now, I just want to run pain free for now. 7:02, 6:22, 7:04, 6:39 pace for the last .14 Cooled down with Kristie, Maryanne, and a former byu runner named Whitney. Kristie and maryanne turned after a half mile and me and Whitney continue on for a 5 mile cool down. I wanted more but had to get home. |
