Today was my first run after the marathon on Sunday. I took it very easy. 3 miles outside @ 9:07 avg pace. My calves were still very tight and my right knee flared up a bit on the last mile. I will take a few more days off before running again.
I bought a pair of Saucony Guide 5s on Thursday to replace my pair of Guide 4s. They are about 2oz lighter and the heel toe drop was reduced. I could notice a slight difference, but nothing too significant. The suppport is still there eventhough the weight was reduced.
I need to stick to my plan to avoid tempo/speed workouts for the next 4 or 5 weeks. I don't want to have an injury that could be avoided. This will also be a good time to gradually increase my aerobic base before race training again. |
