Personal:

I have five cute kids. And I have some rockin short green racing shorts- I wear them mainly because it embarrasses my wife so much. I like ultimate frisbee, trail running, reading, and cheering for the Denver Broncos!   And I have the absolute best wife in the world.  And I used to run for the now-disbanded national Team Pearl Izumi- Ultra!

AM- 9.  Nice morning out.  First run in my Hokas, and I'll admit that I really liked them.  Looking forward to trying them on real trails- I was on mainly road with just a bit of dirt this morning.

PM- 14 splendid miles on the sometimes twisty, sometimes hilly, sometimes rooty, otherwise flat, smooth, and gorgeous singletrack of Southside Park.  Beautiful day for a run.  100% singletrack.  Saw about 6 mtn bikers in the first 20 min, then didn't see a soul the rest of the time- very peaceful.  Great place to run- there's a wonderful, almost smooth 2 mile section that I may have to do repeats on for my speedwork for Umstead.. 14 miles with about 1700 ft climbing (?- Garmin connect says 700, Sporttracks says 1800- definitely more than 700) in just under 2 hrs.  Shorts and t-shirt weather.

A day late, but Merry Christmas none the less! I hope it was a wonderful day for you.

oh noooooo!!! We just lost another one to the dark side of the shoe. Just kidding. I do find it comical though that the Hokas always elicit some kind 'admission' or 'coming out' when they are liked. The seem like a smart idea for racing shoes in some cases to me. And now that half the ultra world wears them it may soon be that people will only look dorky on the trails if their soles aren't at least an inch and a half thick.
