Enjoy running, stay fit (and maybe lose a few pounds). Play ultimate frisbee.

Personal:

I have five cute kids. And I have some rockin short green racing shorts- I wear them mainly because it embarrasses my wife so much. I like ultimate frisbee, trail running, reading, and cheering for the Denver Broncos!   And I have the absolute best wife in the world.  And I used to run for the now-disbanded national Team Pearl Izumi- Ultra!

I also donated blood today.  Do any other runners donate blood?  Do you slow down a bit on your next couple of runs after giving blood?

Many of my track kids always donate blood right at this time of year - school blood drive. A wonderful cause. But with a meet right after I always see a drop in performance.

I've done it few times while training. Just don't do any hard workouts for several days, and you'll be fine. I did notice some fatigue the same day when I ran after donating, but the next day I felt fine. Still, I just kept to short easy runs for few more days.

It depends on how many cookies you eat afterwards. Performance increases with the first 10 cookies, and then diminishing returns thereafter.
