Running Accomplishments:

I've been running since junior high. Ran middle distance in college with a PB of 1:52 for the 800 meters, then continued running with varying degrees of seriousness throughout my 20's and 30's. Moved up in distance and even ran three marathons (2:43 PB). Now just trying to stay in shape and find balance in life in my 40's.

 

Short-Term Running Goals:

Work out 30 minutes a day, six days a week

Stay healthy and consistent.

A.M. - Biked 20 miles with Peter on Cartright-Hidden Springs-Seamans Gulch-Hill Rd. loop. Went really slow mostly, and stopped in Hidden Springs for breakfast at the Merc. Very yuppie.

P.M. - 15 min Ellyptical and 25 minutes weights.

Treadmill + weights - 38+

I call this my "Mens Health and Fitness" workout. I alternated running a few minutes with lifting in between (roughly 5 min. of each at a time). Not the greatest running workout but something different I guess.

Biked 10 miles - South and back and then in the neighborhoods. Right at twilight. I'm not a great biker but like to do it once in a while.

Ellyptical - 15 minutes steady

Treadmill - 34+

Didn't feel very good today so I ran easy on the treadmill at Gold's, with the exception of 3 x half mile pickups at 5:34 mile pace. Those felt pretty good because I took a lot of recovery between.

5 Mile Gulch to Watchmen Trail to Curlew Connector - 1:55

Mat and I bit off a bit more than we could chew today. We planned to do a 10 mile loop, but got on the wrong trail and ended up on some steep up and downs really far out of the way. It turned into an epic run, and we both blew up bad. We survived because the weather was cool and the clouds were beautiful and provided good coverage. Coupled with the 3 days of intense rain, the trails were soft and dust free. These are hands down the best trails in the Boise foothills system.
