AM - 3 miles. I was going to do roughly the same run as last Tuesday (~13 with a progressive fast finish) but my hamstring got tight so I just stopped and walked home. Nothing good would have come out of giving it a shot today.

Nice morning for a walk :)

Take care of that hammy. No more blog carnage!!!

similar experience for me this morning. i stopped at 5 of 9 miles due to imploding knee syndrome. i blame the slc marathon for forcing us to run in less than ideal conditions.

hope it loosens up.

That's what we both get for not forcing Monday workouts.

Hope it heals up soon.

I hate the walk of shame...takes a lot of discipline. Sounds like the right call though.

Get better, you have some huge races coming up!

From Jake K on Wed, Apr 24, 2013 at 07:45:12 from 67.177.11.154

That's the problem... the huge races make it harder to just shut it down, especially since I have $$$ tied up into travel, etc. But my gut feeling is that I'm done for a bit... which is very unfortunate timing.

From CollinAnderson on Wed, Apr 24, 2013 at 10:25:40 from 70.208.3.206

Yeah, that's totally understandable, but if you've been pushing so hard that your body is starting to reject it, it's really the only option. I know the timing seems bad, but you've still done the training that you've done, so even if your last bit leading up to 25k champs isn't perfect, I would still expect you to pop a really good one. Look at Mosop for Chicago '11. Similar scenario, Canova said he was only at 85% due to a recent injury, Mosop said "I have not been in good shape" the day before the race, but he got the win in convincing fashion. Be proactive, do all of the little things like you already do, and, if you can keep your legs healthy, you'll still kill it.

Jake.... do you think it unwise to run a marathon in Fastwitch's if all my training miles have been in Mirage 2's this year.
