AM - 9 miles, lots of loops on the grass at the horsepark.

PM - 4 miles.

We decided to nix the ski plans for today, since it wouldn't have been good for Andrea's hamstring. So I spent the day cleaning / organizing gear, lounging by the pool (plotting adventures), and then we went bowling. Rolled 302 for 2 games (149-153), slightly better than the 295 from last month. At this rate I'll be a pretty good bowler by 2018.

Here's the full results of the bowling showdown. The take-home points are that the Murphys are a very strong bowling family, Fritz is unstoppable the day after a marathon, and when Allie hits the wall in bowling, it goes downhill fast :-)

Fiddy - 82 - 97
Allie - 83 - 37
Redd -  100 - 101
Jake - 149 - 153
Andrea - 85 - 119
Fritz - 160 - 155
LuluWalls - 97 - 81

And the Murphys (on the bumper lane!)...

Abby - 127 - 86
Andy - 90 - 105
Anne - 123 - 144
Rob - 138 - 131

No mountain pictures today, but a couple hours of this is good for the soul too...

That's about what I bowl. My bowling PR is 209. However we went with some friends on Friday night and I dropped a 60! WTF. It was dark and "cosmic bowling" so hard to see the arrows on the floor but still very humbling.

Awww jealous of the outdoor pool!

From Jake K on Sun, May 20, 2012 at 19:05:28 from 67.182.215.126

haha clyde it takes a major lack of focus/effort to bowl a 60! :-)

From Rob Murphy on Sun, May 20, 2012 at 19:28:00 from 24.10.249.165

Bur we weren't really USING the bumpers!

I will agree that I don't consider your performance (or Anne's) totally aided.

From SlowJoe on Sun, May 20, 2012 at 19:32:17 from 69.131.141.92

Wow, runners are really bad bowlers. I never knew that. 37, wow!

Jake - Rio de Janerio, 2016, you could be part of the US team if you could only double your score or so.

From Fritz on Sun, May 20, 2012 at 21:18:38 from 67.182.226.25

Clyde, I hate those cosmic bowling places too. Luckily the place we go to hasn't changed in 30 years.

Nice bowling Jake.

Rob- You and Anne would be a good bowling team.

From Lulu Walls on Sun, May 20, 2012 at 21:39:38 from 166.70.240.95

Oh crap. If I knew the scores would be published I would have stopped the chatting and focused. Good thing no one knows my real name...

From allie on Sun, May 20, 2012 at 21:52:55 from 174.23.154.194

OMG, 37! was this person playing blindfolded? how embarrassing is that.

From allie on Sun, May 20, 2012 at 21:54:41 from 174.23.154.194

also, i didn't realize the high elevation at olympus hills until we stepped back outside. i definitely think that contributed to the crash. i also didn't take a gu between games. live and learn.

From ACorn on Sun, May 20, 2012 at 22:54:34 from 24.2.76.146

Thanks for posting the bowling results. I wanted to make it but it wasn't in the cards today.

From RAD on Mon, May 21, 2012 at 00:35:14 from 98.202.23.178

Oh man, here I was thinking I was living it up at Snowbird when the real show was just down the hill at the bowling alley! If I'm having a good day and have taper and fueled well I can hit a 100+...otherwise, I'd need to be in the bumper lane - or competing against Allie :)

From Jake K on Mon, May 21, 2012 at 08:22:17 from 155.100.226.54

I think the altitude makes a difference. The conversion for a 37 when you take it down to sea-level is 41.

RAD - out theory is that your best game of bowling is going to be after a 12+ month layoff from the sport, when you are completely carbo-loaded. :-)
