AM - 9.7 miles. Woke up and the power was out. No big deal - in our place items such as headlamps and ice axes are always close by. We met up with James and Allie for the regularly scheduled JAJA run. This morning's edition featured a little bit of wind! After 6.5 miles I cut off from the group and headed up to work. The wind on Sunnyside and up the hill towards HCI was crazy... I was almost standing still at times. The worst part was the dirt blowing in my eyes and mouth. Not what I wanted for breakfast. In hindsight, we should have shuttled a car up Emigration Canyon and tried to break the 10-mile world record coming back down. I think we all could have crushed it!

PM - 4.3 miles down to Sugarhouse where Andrea picked me up.

November was my best month of the year for perfect pushups (3025, barely beating June)... now I'm incorporating the Perfect Pullup back into the routine since my groin pull is finally healed. They are a lot harder.

I can't believe you ran in that stuff. Well actually I can... I had difficulty making it a block to the bus stop!

I was almost embarrassed as all the cars were going by me up the hill and it looked like I was jogging in place! Felt like the last 5K of the marathon all over again :-) Ahhh, memories!

Nice job, now you can take it easy in December! With the extra day you only need to do 98/day to PR again. :)

Gotta love running uphill in the wind. I'm pretty sure your "slow" pace was still faster than my fast pace. :)

Nice job with the pushups. :)

I like the idea of crushing the 10 mile record. Somewhat reluctantly I've come round to liking the idea and trying to do push ups. But seriously Jake, pull ups are hardcore. Even in fantasy land I'm not going to try and match you on pull ups. The image I have of me trying to do a pull up would have even the hardiest opponent of euthanasia clamouring for a law decreeing that all males over 40 with the slightest hint of lard should be publicly fried in their own fat on Fridays. They'd call it, Friday Fry Day.

Pullups are the best. I can't think of anything better for an overall upper body exercise.

Last night as I did my pullups at the gym I wondered to myself if I was doing the perfect pullup. Now I'm curious. exactly what is a perfect pullup?

I do a lot of weight training on the pull up bar. You can work your entire upper body and core. Great workout.

The perfect pullup is the rotating handle thing from the same company that makes the perfect pushups handles:

I do like that I can feel some core activation doing pullups... it makes me feel better b/c I am lazy about doing core stuff otherwise

Ahhh yes, I think I saw this on tv once about 2 am. Looks pretty cool.

They became totally worth it once you could buy it at KMart for one-third of the original price
