AM - 9.5 miles up to work. I was really going all-out trying to make sure I didn't hit a patch of ice and slip... so I ended up averaging about 8:30 pace.

PM - 9.5 miles home. I hate running in the dark in the evenings, so I beelined it home and then just added the extra miles on the rollerblade loop.

If you missed it over the weekend, Conner and Kramer took 12th and 16th at the Foot Locker Cross Country National Championships. They are both underclassmen and are already among the top runners in the country. Conner wrote up a great recap and put up some photos. Maybe Kramer will post something too if Coach Murphy makes that his last assignment of the season. But if you get a chance, give those two guys a shout, because their races are probably the most impressive running anyone on the blog has done this year.

For those planning ahead, this long run meeting spot for this Saturday (12/15) will be the 6200S park and ride (8:00am). We'll do some variation of the Wasatch/Zoo run. Its a good one, plenty of rolling hills. Can we get a bigger turnout than this past weekend?

Wow!

Thanks for that Jake.

Impressive miles Jake! Saturday sounds fun.

So guys get nervous in the dark too? But I'm sure you're more scared of cars than weirdos. Be careful out there! I feel like it's a lose-lose these winter months. You can't go before or after work without some of the miles being in the dark.

Nice mileage for the day.

Yeah definitely more afraid of cars than weirdos :-)

I don't mind running in the dark in the mornings. In fact, I actually kind of like it. But it seems like people are crazier in the afternoons and in more of a hurry. I have to make sure I am always blinking like an annoying christmas tree after 5pm.

Seriously! This is what I asked for for Christmas: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110951905549

Now that's one serious vest!

From Rob on Tue, Dec 11, 2012 at 08:26:45 from 206.71.84.68

I always seem to get out for an early morning run and realize I'm wearing black shorts, and a black shirt.

I was at the Nike Running store in Palo Alto and saw this sweet running vest, it is really bright. And then I saw the price. Serious? $250 for a vest.

A $250 vest? If I'm going to pay more than $30 for something, it better have sleeves!

I like that vest Melody. That would jive well w/ my head to toe vizipro orange clothes and blinking lights.

I've always said this, but even if you wear lots of reflective gear, it sometimes not enough w/ the way people drive. You almost have to be obnoxiously lit up to make sure you are noticed.
