AM - 8 miles. Warmed up 3 miles around SHP, then went down to the track and did a 5K Threshold Tempo in 15:33 (4:58, 4:59, 5:00, 35). Cooled down 2 miles. I definitely misunderestimated how dark it was going to be at the track this morning (despite the fact that I run outside every single day at that time).

PM - 8 miles. Ran 30 minutes easy on the grass at SHP, then grabbed my spikes and went back down to the track. Rob was there, and he shared some wisdom with me: "Spikes are spikes, you just buy them because they look cool." Well, mine look cool. Spiked up for the first time in about 4 years and ran 8 x 400m in 67.9 average (200m jog). Jogged around for a bit to cool down.

Today was definitely a deposit (not withdrawal!) day. I don't even feel like I did anything. But that's good because I need to save up some energy for a long tempo run on Saturday. All afternoon I kept coming up with ways to modify the afternoon workout to make it more challenging, but eventually I realized I was being stupid and the whole point was just to get in a little speed and make sure the spikes felt good. In the end, mission accomplished.

I guess I'll add my first impressions of the Endorphin LD3. Super light, the toe-box has more room than the spikes I used to wear (Zoom Kennedy). In fact you could probably get away wearing socks with them, although I am strongly against socks w/ spikes! The upper hugs the foot perfectly and there are absolutely no seams (so perfect for wearing without socks). I think they'll be good for 5K/10K.

misunderestimated -- good word. it reminds me of the "wistfulnesslessness" that james prescribed as one of my guiding principles on my training plan.

great workout this morning. have fun with your spikes.

Thanks, I got it from the training plan that George Bush wrote for me.

Nice tempo Jake! It was definitely much darker than I anticipated this morning as well. Good thing I have no shame in wearing a completely dorky camper headlamp. :)

Like this one, right? :-)

ba ha ha exactly. Maybe the stupid HS kids that are putting on their makeup while turning into the school would notice me in that.

I'm ordering one!

hey its tough to put on your makeup AND play on your iphone AND be bothered to pay attention to what is going on around you while driving all at the same time

Let us know when you have a withdrawal day. I am interested to see what that looks like. :)

Jake,

Hi.

I remember you once posted to Allie the importance of knowing the purpose of every run. Nice to know even Elites sometimes forget. Took you "all afternoon" to remember the point of the workout. Excellent! You ran the run correctly.

Jake - I know you don't run inside, but I just wanted to let you know that they finally did make a treadmill for you if you ever need to resort to such a thing :)

From Jake K on Thu, Mar 22, 2012 at 20:52:10 from 67.177.21.60

haha that treadmill is insane! they could put a cheetah on it!

PRE - I think everyone has lapses where you think you need to do more... at least in the end I took my own advice!

From Jacob Flaws on Fri, Mar 23, 2012 at 13:32:35 from 91.19.151.247

Nice workout! 15:33 is smoking and to do it in a workout is impressive, nicely done!

i just got those shoes this week and i like them a lot, but it takes me 10 minutes to put them on because there so thin :)

I did athletic republic last year and used those treadmills...I think the only thing i got out of it was fixing my form because you can look at yourself in the mirrors and video replay, but their program can really helps your strength explode with hard workouts and lifting sessions.

From Jake K on Sat, Mar 24, 2012 at 19:46:01 from 67.177.21.60

Michael - I think if your feet were sweaty at all, they would be darn near impossible to put on!

Oh and by the way, I think you have low 430s in the bag next week. Your workouts have been great. Run confident!!!

Oh I for some reason thought Pine View was next weekend - I just realized it was today... gotta read your recaps now...
