AM - 8 miles. Easy with a 1/2 mile LT effort (2:27) towards the end. A little quicker than it needed to be (according to the watch, but I don't expect precision on anything under a mile with a garmin). So it was 5:05 pace as far as I'm concerned.

If you're interested, here's tracking and the results page for Duluth.

On a side note/rant, I got several Groupon type e-mails for fireworks today! I'm all for patriotism via blowing stuff up, but is the goal to burn down the state for the second summer in a row? It hasn't rained in weeks. How are fireworks even allowed in June/July?

Fireworks are allowed between July 4th and Pie and Beer day July 24th with bans on using them above south temple and east of 1300e.

Otherwise burn baby burn!

I don't understand what your problem with freedom is. Look at a state with a lot of fireworks restrictions and I'll show you a state that voted for Obama.

From Jake K on Thu, Jun 20, 2013 at 12:38:24 from 67.177.11.154

Good point. As much as I don't want to see the mountains burn down this summer, I definitely don't want to be associated with Obama. If that's what it takes, then that's what it takes.

Thanks for the links!

Sorry for my ignorance, are you (and Riley) participating in the USA Half Marathon Championships or the Gary Bjorklund Half Marathon?...same race different start times??? (6:15 vs 6:45 starting times = 5:15/5:45 MST)

Good luck with your goals! Safe travels and try to stay dry.

When I was in China I picked up 200 of these http://goo.gl/NAr8v for my kids to sell at the neighborhood 4th of July party. I feel like I'm doing my part to not burn down the state now. I should have bought 1000.

Good Luck in Duluth, did you get the sub 1:06 or 1:07 travel package?

From Jake K on Thu, Jun 20, 2013 at 13:42:01 from 67.177.11.154

Kendall - championship race. Either of us could win the other race by a good mile :-)

Rob - Sub 1:06. I dipped under that by a few seconds at PF Changs in January.

From Jake K on Thu, Jun 20, 2013 at 13:43:01 from 67.177.11.154

Oh and to clarify, they are different races when Duluth is hosting the championship. They stagger the start - USA Men, USA Women, Gerry B 1/2, then the Grandma's marathon.

I would say that I am thankfully in the no fly zone but folks here let them fly with impunity. Good luck Jake.

Take it to them Jake!

From Jon on Thu, Jun 20, 2013 at 20:01:38 from 107.203.52.135

Good luck, man. I can't believe how many 1:02-1:05 half marathoners there are that I've never heard of. Amazing.
