AM - 7 miles, upper campus.

I like the website Athletics Illustrated, and I also find a lot of things Steve Magness has to say very interesting. So, Athletics Illustrated's interview w/ Magness is a good (short) read. Lots of interviews that you can learn something from on that site if you poke around a bit.

PM - Horsepark walk. Bathroom repairs.

That was a great read, thanks for sharing Jake.

From the article"...there are a lot of studies that show that there is a relationship between being too flexible and being less efficient." Comforting news for a guy who can't even touch his toes (me). I'm a loaded spring waiting to go off!

Great stuff. Thanks for the post.

Same here Kendall! :-)

I'm not inflexible, I'm efficient!

That's a good site. I often dip in there.

On the stretching thing, if I didn't do my AIS twice a day before runs, I doubt I'd be able to get out of bed in the morning - that's probably more to do with my age.

I think Magness has a point but I suspect he's missing some points as well.

There's a lot more to the whole stretching malarkey than his analogy of a coiled spring.

What's great about AIS and, if you're injured, MET, is that the antagonistic muscles do a lot of the work and the stretch is 'gently' dynamic.

I think AIS, if used with positional release, AET, and trigger pointing, can hit the right note and help you stay injury free, longer. If you do static stretching or don't stretch, you're asking for trouble - a coil that gets too tight, will snap.

Don't spoil it Bam.

Steve Magness I think can be parallel with Jerry and maybe step into the shadow of Alberto in the next 5 years. If I was a 13 min guy I would be knocking on his door.

Specificity of training:

Running is for runners.

Stretching is for stretchers.

=D

Although some stretching is good for non-injured runners... to keep them that way :-)

Wait, what did I just type?

Thanks for the link, Jake. Good discussion always seems to follow.
