AM - 7 miles, easy horsepark loops.

My back has felt a little tweaked the past two days. Not sure exactly what brought that on, but I'm hoping it goes away soon!

Gotta love Usain Bolt - "I said, 'Coach, I really need two months off.’ And he said, 'Do you do one hundred miles a week?’ And I said, 'No I don’t. I don’t even do fifty miles in a year.’ I think I’ll be getting six weeks."

PM - 3 miles. Easy loop around the block w/ Andrea. She was actually running, not biking or rollerblading! :-)

I call those the taper phantom pains. It seems every time when I taper everything starts hurting. I think it is just that you are sitting long enough and your mind/body get bored and want to through in a little spice. That or you are having sympathy pains for Andrea.

I agree with Adam - sympathy pains.

Most niggles sort themselves out, as I'm sure yours will. Just be careful.

That's what I would like them to be.

We've been doing more massage in the past week to get my legs loose and I think we overdid it at a specific spot in my back, and actually ended up aggravating it. I'm hoping it will just go away on its own if I don't mess with it over the next couple days.

The lesson is: Massages are much riskier than high mileage! :-) Nothing ever hurt when I was running 160mpw!

I was going to comment about how cool it would be to be the fastest man in the world by running less than 50 miles per year, but Bam's use of the word "niggles" cannot go unnoticed. How can anything really hurt that bad if it's just a niggle? Thanks for spicing thing up, Bam!

From Lulu Walls on Fri, Sep 07, 2012 at 09:27:08 from 155.100.212.135

Eeek, sorry 'bout the niggle! Definitely a result of the low mileage.

From Jake K on Fri, Sep 07, 2012 at 09:34:16 from 155.100.226.191

Conservative mileage + massage = 78% higher chance of injury

Its basic science.

haha I agree with your math Jake! Definitely effects of the taper. :)

From NatalieK on Fri, Sep 07, 2012 at 14:36:55 from 24.2.101.184

Oh man, I completely agree with scottkeate. Bam's vocabulary puts mine to shame. Sorry bout the back niggle/sympathy pains. I suggest ice cream...

From Jason D on Fri, Sep 07, 2012 at 14:37:51 from 24.1.80.94

Good call, Adam! You notice everything during a taper. "My foot hurts. How long before that injury comes back? No wait...I think it's my hip again. No wait...it's probably something else that's going to happen because I am so focused on my foot and my hip."

From Andrea on Fri, Sep 07, 2012 at 15:56:20 from 72.37.171.52

I think the fact that you've only had froyo the last couple days instead of ice cream might be your problem...

From Adam RW on Fri, Sep 07, 2012 at 15:58:18 from 155.101.152.123

Andrea found the problem. Especially if it was that Red Mango "stuff"...

From Jake K on Fri, Sep 07, 2012 at 15:59:29 from 155.100.226.191

Its still Kroger brand! I refuse to believe Kroger can make a product that would hurt me!

Who's ready for Halloween?
