AM - 7.3 miles up to work... first couple w/ Andrea.
PM - 4.3 miles to SHP.
Got a email this morning from George Delalis, who has made a cool movie called Fast Women (check it out). He also filmed the 15K I ran in Arizona last month, and he sent me a "teaser" clip from early in the race. About 30 seconds into the clip, I make my little move to the front. [Youtube link]

You've got the eye of the tiger Jake. I was wondering how you were going to make a move to the front through that wall of skinny dudes, but then the sea parted. I like how #23 keeps looking at you.

We became facebook friends after the race, so apparently I earned his respect with my surge :-)

Oh yes. Now that you mention it, that is the look of "Man, I wish I was Facebook friends with that guy!" It was hard to tell with the sunglasses on.
And I like the clip of Arianna Hilborn that comes up after yours. She got incredibly fast in a short amount of time.
I think I'll wait to send you a friend request until you've earned my respect by throwing a surge on me.

That is a really cool video. Amazing how relaxed you look at such fast pace.

I've been searching Google all morning for videos on fast women.

try Webcrawler, AltaVista, or AskJeeves... internet searching was much more efficient in the 90s :-)

wow...I love that clip! Now I have a video to go with my famous quote: "the first mile came in at 5:15 - I didn't come here to jog, so I surged ahead!" I still have a hard time wrapping my mind around 5:15 being anywhere NEAR a jog!!!
I too loved the look from #23 when you surged "what the heck?!? I'm NOT FB peeps with this guy?!?"
Honestly, though, I think I'd like to record the sounds of all of your foot falls and run to them. It is awesome!

Nothing yet Cam!
RAD - my footfalls are to the beat of Party Rock Anthem :-)

Jake,
Hi.
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing that. Totally different experience what you have when racing than what I have. You are in the lead pack! To be running a race with nobody in front of me - simply incomprehensible. I have my little pressures to contend with while racing. You guys that run in the front - really just a much more tactical race that you must run it seems.

Super sweet video of you pulling the pack. You and the other Saucony need to do some ads together with the hair difference!
I'm always surprised by how poorly running speed translates to video especially when shot at angles away from directly from the side.

The screen shot there you definitely look like one of the strongest.
