AM - 6.3 miles. Zoo and back from HCI.

PM - 8.7 miles. Met Andrea and Redd at Highland. We warmed up 2 miles on the grass, then went down to the track.  Workout was 12 x 400m in average 68.8 seconds w/ 200m float recovery. All the reps were very consistent - fastest was 68.1 and slowest was 69.9 (the first one). We cooled down around the perimeter of the park. It was a perfect afternoon for running!

This was a good workout for me because I didn't have to press to hit the splits. I can feel the wheels coming back. The effort level was about the same as when I was running these kind of reps in 72 seconds a month or two ago.

We also met a guy who is a 400m/800m runner. He agreed to meet me for some 200s later this week. A long sprinter would be a good addition to our training group! I need someone to chase :-)

PS - Another epic steeplechase

That hill is a BEAST. Nicely done.

Yeah those hills by the zoo are no joke. Sometimes when we go to the zoo I wish I was a kid and could be pushed up all of those hills in a stroller. ha!

I've never ran up that hill, but I walked up when I was a kid and that was tough. lol

This is actually a much easier route than my typical run to work, which is about a 600 foot elevation gain. The zoo run is easy breezy when I start up high :-)

I was thinking that was a pretty chill run for you :)

Did you see this? Cam Levins ran a 27:27 in his first 10k race. Crazy!

Yeah the results from Stanford on Sunday night were amazing. Lopez Lomong kicked a lap early in the 5K, stopped, then started running again and still ran 13:11. The 10K was insane... Levins is a beast! And Alan Webb (the guy I am personally rooting the most for, simply b/c the internet will explode if he makes the OT 1500m finals) showed some major improvement.

And Deena K ran 31:49 in her first track race in like 5 years!

Levins needs to move up to the marathon ASAP :-)

I wish I lived close and didn't work at night. Track nights would be fun.

wow, I love your track workouts...serious speed! I can't believe there is anyone around that you can chase!

You've done a good job retraining after Boston. Been neat to follow!

Getting on the track is fun when your legs actually feel good

Steve I've been trying to be very patient... I feel 100%, if not better. But I'm going to try and keep the miles down significantly (compared to what I was doing Jan-Feb-Mar) for this next 6-8 week stretch and really focus on quality workouts.
