AM - 5 miles. 5 x 1/4 mile in 62, 60, 60, 60, 58 on the dead-end street (~2% downhill). Three weeks ago I did 4 x 1/4 in ~67 avg on this stretch. A lot of the improvement has to do with staying focused on my form.

PM - 7 miles w/ Andrea (bike).

Here's my contribution to the running world for the year, the result of a successful science experiment: Homemade, Flexible Ice Packs. You can make them any size you want. I made a couple that cover my entire hamstrings, at a cost of ~$1.75 each.

So if you were to make tow of them it would be about three fiddy?

'bout tree fitty.

If you bought the ziploc bags at Costco and made a hundred of them, I bet you could get the cost down to about $1.73

There's a lot for me to process in this post. I'll just say congrats on both your workout achievement and your icing innovation.

I shouldn't have posted the recipe... Just started selling them out of my trunk at races for $5 instead.

I'm not in the new circuit standings?

Will be updated after Des News. There were a few omissions in the membership list, so it will be incorporated when the next batch of results go into the "program." Beyond my realm of understanding. Its quasi-Matrix-ish. Bill has some fancy software that calculates everything.

Jake - how about promoting a new book on Amazon called "The 27th Mile". Its a $4.99 e-book and all of the proceeds go to the Boston Marathon victims.

I mentioned it but a lot more people read your blog. Might do a message board post.

I was using bags of frozen peas.. Thanks for posting that! No more wasting food..

From Jake K on Tue, Jul 23, 2013 at 09:20:39 from 67.177.11.154

Steve - Peas work in a pinch but these are re-useable for a long time if the bags don't tear.

Rob - done. And thanks for the tips on the race tomorrow. I didn't come over to cottonwood this morning because after another look at the elevation profile, I spent the next hour after my run preemptively icing every part of my body.
