AM - 4.3 miles on the grass at SHP, most of it w/ Andrea... then took the bus up to work from there... no need to run up the hill today, I'll get my fill of that route tomorrow.

PM - 4.3 miles down to SHP.

Tomorrow I'm doing the old Half-Marathon / 5K double at the Fittest State Festival to try and move up in the circuit standings. Since I missed a lot of the early races, and the schedule wasn't very robust this year, I sort of abandoned the idea of trying to place high... until a few weeks ago when I realized it was possible to run both the half-marathon and 5K. So I don't even think its mathematically possible to win the overall since I won't be able to get in 7 races, but I should be able to move up from 5th place, unless some guys double back from St George :-) These are the current standings...

Races Total
Ken Richardson 7 247
Riley Cook 7   238.25
Albert Wint 7   199
Benjamin Van Beekum 6   161.25
Jake Krong 3   157
Nathan Hornok 4   128.25

I've also always wanted to run a race that follows my route up to work, straight up the hill :-)

Sounds like a nice morning. Good luck tomorrow.

I got to run w/ Andrea, and I'm single-handily saving the entire environment by not driving, so I'll chalk it up as a successful morning.

good luck tomorrow. TOMORROW! at the FESTIVAL!

The festival of the (future) FITTEST STATE!

Did you see the email blast that said there is FREE stretching at 6:30am? What a deal!!!

From Andrea on Fri, Oct 12, 2012 at 08:57:38 from 72.37.171.52

Jake even made up a Fittest State song this morning on our run!

From allie on Fri, Oct 12, 2012 at 08:58:36 from 161.38.218.168

i guess that means we should depart athlete headquarters at 6:21 so that we can take advantage of the deal.

From allie on Fri, Oct 12, 2012 at 08:59:32 from 161.38.218.168

a SONG! SKYPE me.

From Jake K on Fri, Oct 12, 2012 at 09:00:29 from 155.100.226.191

Its a full mile, Allie... we better leave at 6:17 just to be safe. I haven't had a first mile of a run under 9:30 since TOU.

I don't want to brag, but the song I wrote this morning is great. I hope they let me sing it instead of the national anthem.

If you pass me while running the 5K as I'm still giving the half marathon a pathetic attempt please make sure there is a photographer near and throw your hands in the air. I want a picture of me keeping up with Jake Krong!

From Jake K on Fri, Oct 12, 2012 at 14:09:18 from 155.100.226.191

Just walk the last 2 miles and we should cross paths. Then sprint ahead once I'm catching up :-)

From DaleG on Fri, Oct 12, 2012 at 19:58:32 from 152.216.7.5

Good luck with that. Geez, you and Allie running two races....What are we going to do with you? LOL

I need to look into this circuit thing. How does it work? Do you get points based on how well you do or just if you complete a race?

From runningafterbabies on Fri, Oct 12, 2012 at 20:16:56 from 71.195.219.247

You go, Jake! That should be a piece of cake for you.

From RileyCook on Fri, Oct 12, 2012 at 21:11:58 from 65.130.83.218

Don't play naive Jake, you know it's very much mathematically possible; you're a smart guy. In fact its likely you'll win overall.

But maybe some of us are doubling back after St. George ;-) We'll have to see....

Also Ben's points are higher than they have listed. They give him zero for running for the children when he should have gotten 25.

From Jake K on Fri, Oct 12, 2012 at 21:22:03 from 67.177.11.154

I'm not being coy, I don't think I can win... unless my math is way off. And now that I just looked at the updated entry list... I think its very, very unlikely :-)

Has Ben contacted Bill F about changing the scores? I think there were a couple of errors that needed correcting.

I wasn't trying to stir up the pot, hopefully it didn't come off that way.

See ya out there in the morning!

From Jake K on Fri, Oct 12, 2012 at 21:24:56 from 67.177.11.154

Dale - this is how the circuit works:

http://utah.usatf.org/Sports/Road-Racing/Circuit-Rules.aspx

A lot of people are unfamiliar with it... we're going to try and push making it bigger next year, and get more age-group involvement. This year it has been very centered on open males/females, and participation has been kinda low compared to the USATF circuits in other areas of the country. Hopefully we'll be able to make some positive changes. I've already got commitments from a few new (to the circuit) races that will probably be added to the mix next year.

From RileyCook on Fri, Oct 12, 2012 at 21:31:22 from 65.130.83.218

Ben has contacted them several times but they never seem to fix it.

I still think you'll win overall on the circuit unless my legs miraculously feel incredible one week after a marathon.

I know you weren't stirring the pot. It didn't come off that. It fun running the circuit races and doing the math under different possible scenarios.

See ya tomorrow...maybe ;-)

From Jake K on Fri, Oct 12, 2012 at 21:36:37 from 67.177.11.154

I'll tell bill... Seems like ken might be owed some points too. They also don't seem to believe Allie got married and her last name changed... She had to provide them w/ 863 firms to prove it.

From DaleG on Fri, Oct 12, 2012 at 21:41:41 from 152.216.3.5

That's awesome!!! Before I read your reply, I just signed up for a 3 year membership to USATF, so I'll be running circuit races next year!!! It's going to be great.

I can't wait to see what races will be in the mix for next year.

I was interested in the circuit a few years ago, but got intimidated seeing the fast times people were posting, but now I see anyone can join and have fun.

What exactly is the Masters division?

Good luck on your trip into anerobia tomorrow:) You have had one heck of an awesome year regardless of your overall position.
