AM - 15 miles up to work. Mission accomplished - drove my car to work exactly one day in July. Lots of run commuting miles... and no real workouts. That will change...

PM - 10 miles home. Threw in about 8-10 short accelerations during the last mile. Figured that since July has pretty much been a jogfest, I might as well close it out by moving my legs a little quicker. 621 miles for the month... that's definitely my highest ever... now the rest of the year is a perpetual taper :-)

Be careful, the mileage you are putting on your car may get too high. :)

That's awesome. Do you try to run up to work even in the winter?

Well I did drive the jeep on trips to southern Utah and the Tetons, so it still got some miles in

Yes I run back & forth all winter. The easiest way to get the miles in, when its dark and dreary, is to know that they only way you are getting home is by running home :-) I actually enjoy the run commuting a lot - especially during the winter... otherwise I would never be outside in daylight during the work week that time of year.

I signed up for the clean air challenge the other day! They emailed everyone on campus. I wish they did this contest during July - I would have broken the world record. I'll probably end up driving like... 10 times this next month. Poor environment :-(

i'm going to do the bike/trax combo to get to work as much as possible, but it's probably going to be offset by all the weekend driving to races. :/

From Jake K on Tue, Jul 31, 2012 at 18:43:12 from 67.177.11.154

but you can get points for carpooling to races!

621 for the month!? Huge month at just over 20 mile avg per day (7 days a week...BAM!). Interested in seeing if there's a pay-off with that kind of mileage. Well done.

From Andrea on Tue, Jul 31, 2012 at 18:51:54 from 67.177.11.154

I can't wait for the taper...are you going all the way to 0 mpw?!

From Jake K on Tue, Jul 31, 2012 at 18:54:32 from 67.177.11.154

Its actually not that much more than I've done in the past... Jan/Feb/Mar were in the 500s, and I was doing a lot more quality workouts and hard sessions / racing at that point.

This was just a nice month of vacations and easy base miles.

Averaging 20 miles per day is rather impressive. I doubt Jack Bauer could do that.

Yep, very impressive and inspiring. Some serious mitochondria jiggling about in your cells. You've done well to refrain from workouts.
