AM - 14 miles. Started with Andrea for a couple miles, then ran up to the track: 25 x 200m in 33.9 seconds avg (hot/cold). 5 up, 3 down. Not even close to the workout I had planned, but the cheerleaders at HHS refused to yield any ground in the middle of the homestretch. It was either run on the grass on the inside or weave out to lane 8. I didn't want to stir up trouble so I just used the opposite side of the track for my faster segments.

PM - 9 miles. LT Reps: 3 x 1 Mile in 5:00, 4:59, 4:57. Tempo loop.  ~3 up/down.

They underestimate the impact of 13.25 MPH of Jake Krong! And why do cheerleaders practice on the track? I ran into this last spring on one of my rare track days.

I'm reminded of Mcgill, "Tracks were once lonely outposts for diehard runners. Not anymore. Now they're obstacle courses. Three-abreast power walkers. Soccer gear-drop zones. Soccer parents crowding the inside lanes like fans hugging the stage at a Rolling Stones concert. Hey, we don't run across the soccer field; how about you make room on the track?"

At this high school that we use, the football team is always out there as well... those kids are awesome... they always keep lane 1 clear, and if they accidentally step into it, the coaches scream at them. The cheerleaders, on the other hand, do it to spite me. I even heard one of them say "hey, there's that guy" when I jogged up to the track. They practice their pyramids in lanes 1 - 3 while everyone else sits in lanes 4 - 7.9.

They may as well be bowling pins. Visualize and attack :). Become the bowling ball Jake.

Holy cow! Great week going.

Not only that, but the principal at Highland can be downright hostile to people running on his track. I've had two run-ins with him.

I told him that despite his hostility he was always welcome to run on Alta's track if he ever found himself down in Sandy.

Solid day Jake. That hilly half you did at altitude was impressive.

Only 99 degrees today so knocking out a light PM workout was a no-brainer.

I wanted to double up the quality today so I can take it easy after the Alta run tomorrow... Rest up for the weekend.

Nice workouts today, Jake! And nice mileage this week so far.

Very solid double Jake. Nice work.

Solid day Jake. Running sub-5 minute pace after a morning track wu in 99 degree weather is not for the faint of heart!
