AM - 12 miles. Tempo Run at Liberty Park: 8 miles in 42:42 (5:20 average pace). During the first mile I was thinking "this is too early, we need to start doing these in the afternoons"... but after 5-10 minutes I got into a really nice rhythm and the rest of the workout felt very smooth. Pace was a little quicker than last week, exactly where I want to be on these runs.

Over the weekend I read Adam Goucher's new book - Running the Edge.  Its not what you'd expect from a typical running book, but I thought it was really good. Might be worth checking out if you are looking for something to read. Here is my review.

PM - 8.3 miles.

Great workout and thanks for the book review, I'm always looking for stuff to read while I'm on the exercise bike.

Thanks for the link. I'm curious, did you run that tempo on the woodchips, grass or pavement?

From Jake K on Thu, Sep 15, 2011 at 21:57:44 from 67.177.21.60

I do the tempo on the wide paved sidewalk thing. Its nice and smooth... I'd break my ankle trying to run on the woodchips or grass in the dark!
